D yu knw that sme peple have memries that are cmpletely wrng? They remember things that never happened. Smetimes, many peple have the same wrng memry. When this happens, it's believed that it is because f the Mandela Effect.
Peple first nticed the Mandela Effect in 2013. That year,Nelsn Mandela paused away. Hwever, thusands f peple remembered him dying in the 1980s. They described watching his funeral n TV. But in fact, Mandela lived t be 95 years ld. Hw culd that be? Hw culd s many peple have the same wrng memry?

That wuld explain why s many peple in 2013 thught Nelsn Mandela was already dead, But wuld it explain why all thse peple gave similar descriptins f his funeral? Culd all thse peple have mixed up the same w memries?
Anther thery abut the basis fr the Mandela effect riginates frm quantum physics(量子物理学) and relates t the idea that rather than ne timeline f events, it is pssible that alternate realities r universes are taking place and mixing with ur timeline. In thery, this wuld result in grups f peple having the same memries because the timeline has been changed as we shift between these different realities Yu aren't alne if yu think this sunds little unrealistic.
There are many ther examples f the Mandela effect. Have yu ever seen the Mna Lisa? Many peple remember the wman in the painting with a frwn r was straight-faced. If yu lk at the Mna Lisa tday, yu'll find she's smiling. D yu knw where New Zealand is in relatin t Australia? Hwever, there is a cmmunity f peple wh claim t remember New Zealand being nrtheast instead f sutheast.
Are these wrng memries the result f mixed memries, r is there anther explanatin? Withut further science research, we can't say fr sure!

Papa, as a sn f a dirt–pr farmer, left schl early and went t wrk in a factry, fr educatin was fr the rich then. S, the wrld became his schl. And dinner time seemed perfect fr sharing what we had learned. We wuld talk abut the news f the day; n matter hw insignificant, it was never taken lightly. Papa wuld listen carefully and was ready with sme cmment, always t the pint. Then came the mment-the time t share the day's new learning.
Papa, at the head f the table, wuld push back his chair and pur a glass f red wine, ready t listen.
"Felice, "he'd say, "tell me what yu learned tday".
"I learned that the ppulatin f Nepal is .."
Silence.
Papa was thinking abut what was said, as if the salvatin f the wrld wuld depend upn it."The ppulatin f Nepal. Hmm. Well..."he'd say. "Get the map, and let's see where Nepal is. "And the whle family went n a search fr Nepal.
This same experience was repeated until each family member had a turn. Dinner ended nly after we had a clear understanding f at least half a dzen such facts.
As children, we thught very little abut these educatinal wnders. Our family, hwever, was grwing tgether, sharing experiences and participating in ne anther's educatin. And by lking at us, listening t us, respecting ur input, affirming ur value, giving us a sense f dignity, Papa was unquestinably ur mst influential teacher.

Is renting clthes greener than buying them? Sustainable(可持续的)fashin expert Elizabeth Cline isn't sure. Clthing renting is a ht new industry and businessmen are trying t attract shppers wh care abut the envirnment. Last summer alne, Urban Outfitters, Macy's, Blmingdale's American Eagle and Banana Republic all annunced renting services – a sure sign f changing times.
But is renting fashin actually mre envirnmentally-friendly than buying it? And if s, hw much mre? Jurnalist and authr Elizabeth Cline researched this questin in a feature article fr Elle, and she cncluded that it's nt as sustainable as it seems.
Take shipping fr example, which has t g tw ways if an item is rented – receiving and returning. Cline writes that cnsumer transprtatin has the secnd largest carbn ftprint f ur cllective fashin habit after manufacturing.
Then there's the burden f washing, which has t happen fr every item when it's returned, regardless f whether r nt it was wrn. Fr mst renting services, this usually means dry–cleaning, which is a plluting prcess. All the renting services that Cline lked int have replaced perchlrethylene,a carcingenic(致癌的)air pllutants that's still used by 70 percent f US dry cleaners, with hydrcarbn(碳氢化合物)alternatives, althugh these aren't great either. They can prduce harmful waste and air pllutin if nt handled crrectly.
Lastly, Cline fears that renting services will increase ur appetite fr fast fashin, simply because it's s easily accessible. There's smething called "share–washing" that makes peple have mre wasteful behavirs because a prduct r service is shared and thus is cnsidered mre ec–friendly. Uber is ne example f this: advertised as a way t share rides and reduce car wnership, and yet it has been prven t discurage walking, bicycling and public transprtatin use.
Renting clthes is still preferable t buying them cheap and thrwing them int the bin after wearing them a few times, but we shuldn't let the availability f these services make us self-satisfied. There's an even better step - and that's wearing what we already have.
32. The underline wrd in Paragraph 3 mst prbably means______
A. traveling by ship. B. selling r renting a ship
C .delivering r mailingD. the cst f sending
33. What can we infer frm the passage?
A. Clthing renting became ppular ten years ag.
B. Cnsumer transprtatin has the largest carbn ftprint.
C. Renting clthes deserves further cnsideratin.
D. Uber is a gd example f sharing rides.
34. Hw much are the fllwing alternatives preferred by the authr?
①renting used clthes. ②Buying cheap new clthes and dumping them sn
③Wearing the clthes we have instead f getting mre t wear
A.①>②>③B.②>③>①
C.③>②>①D.③>①>②
35. Which f the fllwing may be the best title fr the passage?
A. Renting fashin-a sustainable chice!B. Clthes renting r clthes buying?
C. Renting services are catching n.D. Clthes renting-truly greener?
