一、知识目标:

【精讲点拨】

1. 辨析older与elder

elder只可指人，通常用来表示兄弟姐妹的长幼顺序，常用作定语。

older可指人，也可指物，是old的比较级形式，可作表语或定语。表人时，表示实际年龄的大小关系；指物时，意为“较旧的”。

如： My elder sister is 4 years older than me. Mum often lets me to wear her old clothes.

     我姐姐比我大4岁。妈妈经常让我穿她的旧衣服。

2. 辨析instead 与instead of

1）instead 副词，意为“反而；代替；而不是”，后面不接其他词，通常放在句首或句末。在句首时，常用逗号隔开，表示前面的事情没有做，而做了后面的事。

2）instead of 介词短语。意为“代替‘而不是”，后面可跟与前面并列成分相对应的名词、代词、动名词等。

如：To keep healthy, we should have more vegetables and fruit instead of too much meat.

    为了保持健康，我们应该多吃蔬菜和水果，而不是肉。

3. offer

 为动词，意为“主动提出，自愿给予”，常用于以下结构中：

offer to do sth. 主动提出做某事        

offer sb. sth./ offer sth. to sb. 主动给某人提供某物

如：The little boy offered his seat to an old lady on the crowded bus.

在拥挤饿公交车上，那个小男孩把他的作为让给了一位老夫人。

4. communicate

是不及物动词，意为“交流，沟通”，其名词为communication.

communicate with sb.=have a communication with sb.“和某人交流”。

如：He often communicates with his mother on the phone. 他经常打电话和妈妈交流。

5. explain

意为“解释”，常用结构为：

explain to sb. 向某人解释，explain sth. to sb. 向某人解释某事

如：Could you explain the reason of being late to me?
