Our Teen Summer Spanish Program is two weeks of fun, educational excitement that helps students learn Spanish fast. Our Spanish summer program allows our students to learn from highly trained, certified teachers and be absorbed in the language and the culture of Costa Rica.
    Features include:
    * Intensive(强化的) daily Spanish classes
    * Extracurricular classes in dance, cooking, music, and handiwork
    * Outdoor activities including hiking, camping, rafting, and ziplining(高空滑索)
    * Homestay with a local Costa Rican family
    * Volunteer work in needy neighborhoods
    Our Teaching Methods:
We are proud to use TPRS---Total Physical Response Storytelling---in our curriculum. This innovative method uses strange and amusing stories to teach new vocabulary, increase fluency, and get students involved by giving them the opportunity to alter the details themselves. Because of the silliness, creativity, and repetition involved, TPRS allows students to learn easily and remember information effortlessly
Memorizing vocabulary and listening to lectures on grammar are slow, inefficient ways to learn a new language. The best way to truly learn and commit new material to memory is through conversation. In our Spanish classes, students can expect to speak up to 80% of each class. By speaking in the new language freely and consistently, students can see progress faster because they are using the new grammar and vocabulary that they have learned at the same time. This helps the brain remember the new words and grammar structures for future use, making it much easier to progress.
    1. What does the program do?
    A. It offers weekly Spanish classes
    B. It focuses more on outdoor activities
    C. It gives teachers a chance to receive training
    D. It provides activities about the Spanish culture
    2. What is the best way to learn a language according to the text?
    A. Memorizing a larger vocabulary
    B. Speaking more in the new language.
    C. Mastering more grammar structures
    D. Writing stories to share with others
    3. What is the purpose of the text?
    A. To employ experienced Spanish teacher
    B. To hire foreign volunteers for a program
    C. To attract teen foreigners to a program
    D. To introduce language learning methods

It’s a little before 8 a.m. when Mathias Schergen pushes open the side door at Chicago’s Jenner Elementary Academy for the Arts. He walks down the hall toward the office to sign in. It’s the same routine he’s had as Jenner’s art teacher for nearly a quarter century. “It’s going to be a good day,” a colleague calls out. “It’s a good day.” They hug. It seems like a typical Friday. Except it’s not. After 23 years at Jenner Elementary, Schergen is retiring. Even on his last day, there are still art projects to finish.
Schergen leaves behind a rich legacy at this school. He’s won grants (拨款) for art projects. He turned an empty classroom into a museum. He’s pushed his students to make art about their lives. And he was awarded a Golden Apple — the most honorable teaching award in Chicago. But it wasn’t always easy. For years, Schergen taught in one of the city’s toughest neighborhoods. “When I first got my room, I noticed there were bullet holes in the window. That made me nervous,” he says. So he stuffed Beanie Babies in the holes to make it “look kind of funny”. “I didn’t even tell my wife for a whole year,” he says. “I didn’t want her to know.”
With one hour to go, Schergen piles the chairs and sweeps the floor. He cleans out the sink for the last time. Fifth-grader Deontae Barnes, one of his best helpers, has watched him say goodbye all day. He wanders in the doorway. “Ah, come here, son,” Schergen says, signaling him over. He bends down for a hug. “Thank you for making these last days special and being a help to me.”
When Deontae leaves, a reporter asks Schergen: When your kids ask why you’re retiring, what do you tell them? “I just tell them that grown people have dreams too,” he says. “I have other things in my life I have to do. It’s time. It’s just time.”
    4. Why is it a special Friday for Schergen?
    A. He was retiring on that day. B. He won an honor for his school.
    C. He was interviewed by a reporter. D. He received a Golden Apple award.
    5. What does the underlined word “legacy” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
    A. Art projects. B. Great achievements.
    C. Respect from students. D. Change in teaching.
    6. What made Schergen nervous when he first got to the school?
    A. Safety concerns in the school. B. The poorly-equipped classroom.
    C. Being misunderstood by his family. D. Students’ poor academic performance.
    7. What is the best title for the text?
    A. A Typical Day for an Art Teacher B. Time for Art Projects
    C. A Teacher’s Final Day at School D. The Last Art Class
A 5. B 6. A 7. C
根据第一段中“It seems like a typical Friday. Except it’s not. After 23 years at Jenner Elementary, Schergen is retiring. Even on his last day, there are still art projects to finish. 故选A项。
根据第二段中“Schergen leaves behind a rich legacy at this school. He’s won grants (拨款) for art projects. He turned an empty classroom into a museum. He’s pushed his students to make art about their lives. And he was awarded a Golden Apple — the most honorable teaching award in Chicago.
根据第二段中““When I first got my room, I noticed there were bullet holes in the window. That made me nervous,” he says. 故选A项。
根据第一段中“It seems like a typical Friday. Except it’s not. After 23 years at Jenner Elementary, Schergen is retiring. Even on his last day, there are still art projects to finish.
    C
You've probably heard it suggested that you need to move more throughout the day, and as a general rule of thumb, that "more" is often defined as around 10,000 steps. With many Americans tracking their steps via new fitness-tracking wearables, or even just by carrying their phone, more and more people use the 10,000-step rule as their marker for healthy living. Dr. Dreg Hager, professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins, decided to take a closer look at that 10,000-step rule, and he found that using it as a standard may be doing more harm than good for many.
“It turns out that in 1960 in Japan they figured out that the average Japanese man, when he walked 10,000 steps a day burned something like 3,000 calories and that is what they thought the average person should consume so they picked 10,000 steps as a number” Hager said.
According to Hager, asking everyone to shoot for 10,000 steps each day could be harmful to the elderly or those with medical conditions, making it unwise for them to jump into that level of exercise, even if it's walking. The bottom line is that 10,000 steps may be too many for some and too few for others. He also noted that those with shorter legs have an easier time hitting the 10,000-step goal because they have to take more steps than people with longer legs to cover the distance. It seems that 10,000 steps may be suitable for the latter.
A more recent study focused on older women and how many steps can help maintain good health and promote longevity (长寿).The study included nearly 17,000 women with an average age of 72. Researchers found that women who took 4,400 steps per day were about 40% less likely to die during a follow-up period of just over four years: Interestingly, women in the study who walked more than 7,500 steps each day got no extra boost in longevity.
    8. What does the underlined word "it' in Paragraph 1 refer to?
    A. The phone recording. B. The 10,000-step rule.
    C. The healthy living. D. The fitness-tracking method.
    9. What does Paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
    A. How many steps a Japanese walks.
    B. How we calculate the number of steps.
    C. If burning 3,000 calories daily is scientific.
    D. Where 10,000 steps a day came from.
    10. Who will probably benefit from 10,000 steps each day according to Hager?
    A. Senior citizens. B. Young short-legged people.
    C. Healthy long-legged people D. Weak individuals.
    11. How many steps may the researchers suggest senior citizens take each day?
    A. 4,400 steps. B. 10,000 steps.
    C. 2,700 steps. D. 7,500 steps.
B 9. D 10. C 11. A
第一段开头“You've probably heard it suggested that you need to move more throughout the day, and as a general rule of thumb, that "more" is often defined as around 10,000 steps.”(你可能听过这样的建议:一天中你需要多走几步,根据一般经验,“多走”通常被定义为大约10,000步。) Dreg Hager, professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins, decided to take a closer look at that 10,000-step rule,”可知Dreg Hager教授决定仔细研究一万步法则,下文画线词语所在句子“he found that using it as a standard”与上句承接,指把一万步法则作为标准,it即指The 10,000-step rule。
根据第二段“It turns out that in 1960 in Japan they figured out that the average Japanese man, when he walked 10,000 steps a day burned something like 3,000 calories and that is what they thought the average person should consume so they picked 10,000 steps as a number” (结果证明在1960年的日本,他们发现日本人平均每天走一万步会消耗3000卡路里,这是他们认为普通人应该消耗的热量,所以他们选择把一万步作为标准。)
根据第三段“asking everyone to shoot for 10,000 steps each day could be harmful to the elderly or those with medical conditions”(要求每个人每天走一万步可能对老年人或有疾病的人有害)和“those with shorter legs have an easier time hitting the 10,000-step goal because they have to take more steps than people with longer legs to cover the distance. It seems that 10,000 steps may be suitable for the latter.”(那些腿短的人更容易达到10000步的目标,因为他们需要比腿长的人走更多的步来完成这段距离。
根据最后一段“Researchers found that women who took 4,400 steps per day were about 40% less likely to die during a follow-up period of just over four years”(研究人员发现,在四年多的随访期间,每天走4400步的女性死亡的可能性要低40%)可知,研究人员建议老年人每天走4400步,这样可以帮助她们保持健康和延年益寿。故选A。
    D
Plastic is piling up in ecosystems all over the world. Although its harmful impacts on both species and ecosystems have been documented, a few animals—like bowerbirds and hermit crabs—are doing what they can to recycle it. And according to a recent study, wild bees in Canada have joined the effort, which is a rare observation of behavioral flexibility in species especially insects, in increasingly plastic-rich environments.
The researchers found two species of leafcutter bees putting plastic into their nests. One of the bees they studied, the alfalfa leafcutter bee, normally bites off pieces of leaves and flowers while the second bee gathers sticky substances from trees. Leafcutter bees don't build big nests or store honey like honeybees, choosing instead small nests in underground holes, tree holes or cracks (裂缝)in buildings. But the researchers found that three of eight brood cells(育雏巢室)contained pieces of plastic bags, replacing 23 percent of the cut leaves in each cell on average.
While they don't make honey, alfalfa leafcutter bees still make money for the U. S. and Canadian farmers by pollinating(给......传授花粉)crops including alfalfa , carrots and melons. The European insects were introduced to North America in the 1930s for that purpose, and they've since become wild, joining the continent's many native species of leafcutter bees.
In a separate study conducted in Argentina between 2017 and 2018, researchers found a bee nest made entirely of plastic, which consisted of three separate cells. It's the first known example of such construction worldwide. Compared to the other nests the researchers examined, which were made of natural materials, this one had a pretty lower success rate of the bees' survival. One of the cells had a dead baby bee , another seemed to have housed an adult that had left the nest, and the third was unfinished.
    12. What does the animals' use of plastic show according to the study?
    A. How widely plastic is used.
    B. How strange the behavior of wildlife is.
    C. How some wildlife is adapting to plastic.
    D. How plastic pollution has harmed them.
13 What do leaves mean to alfalfa leafcutter bees?
    A. Food. B. Shelter.
C A plastic substitute. D. Traditional nest materials.
    14. Which is one characteristic of leafcutter bees?
    A. They have great economic value.
    B. They store honey like honeybees.
    C. They prefer to live in tree holes.
    D. They have evolved into a new species.
    15. What was the nest made entirely of plastic like?
    A. It might be warmer. B. It might be unhealthy.
    C. It might be easy to finish. D. It might be recyclable.
C 13. D 14. A 15. B
第一段中提到“a few animals…are doing what they can to recycle it.(一些动物正在尽其所能地回收它。)”“according to a recent study, wild bees in Canada have joined the effort, which is a rare observation of behavioral flexibility in species especially insects, in increasingly plastic-rich environments.(根据最近的一项研究,加拿大的野蜂也加入了这项努力,这是一项罕见的发现,说明了在塑料越来越多的环境中,有些物种尤其是昆虫的行为适应性。)”
第二段中提到“the alfalfa leafcutter bee, normally bites off pieces of leaves and flowers(苜蓿切叶蜂通常会咬下树叶和花朵的碎片)”和“three of eight brood cells(育雏巢室)contained pieces of plastic bags, replacing 23 percent of the cut leaves in each cell on average.(八个有幼蜂的蜂巢中有三个含有塑料袋碎片,每一个蜂巢中(塑料袋碎片)平均取代了23%的切碎的树叶。)”
第三段中提到“While they don't make honey, alfalfa leafcutter bees still make money for the U. S. and Canadian farmers by pollinating(给......传授花粉)crops including alfalfa , carrots and melons. 故选A项。
根据第四段中“Compared to the other nests the researchers examined, which were made of natural materials , this one had a pretty lower success rate of the bees' survival.

空前提到“我们可以改变一下环境”,B项“对一些人来说,一些小的改变可能就起作用”呼应上文,都是关于改变,空后一句中“reorganizing our desk or taking a new route to work”是B项中“small changes”的具体内容;且B项与下文“However, for others , bigger changes such as a new job or a marriage are required.(然而,对另一些来说,需要大一点的改变比如一份新工作或者婚姻)”形成对比。
空处位于句首,是段落主题句,根据本段内容“diverse experiences, views and backgrounds”及“Because they are key drivers of the development of new ideas and solutions.(因为它们是新思想和解决办法发展的关键驱动因素)”可知,本段主要说差异的好处,所以A项“寻找差异也有帮助”切题。故选A项。

    4.考查to do不定式。 当名词被the first修饰时,后置定语用to do不定式,故填to reach。
which引导的定语从句中,which指代the South Pole,point sb to/toward(s)意为“向某人指出……”,故填to/toward(s)。
so...that...
在条件状语从句中,主将从现,所以根据if you happen to be there可知,主句用一般将来时,故填will notice。
    51. 假定英语课上老师要求同桌中间交换修改作文,请你修改你同桌写的以下作文。文中共有10处语言错误,每句中最多有两处,每处错误仅涉及一个单词的增加、删除或修改。
    增加:把缺词处加个漏字符号(∧),并在其下面写出该加的词。
    删除:把多余的词用斜线(\)划掉。
    修改:在错的词下划一横线,并在该词下面写出修改后的词。
    注意:1.每处错误及其修改均仅限一词;
    2.只允许修改10处,多者(从第11处起)不计分。
The mascot(吉祥物) of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games official made its public appearance on Tuesday. It was a cartoon character inspired by giant pandas. The smiling panda is named with Bing DwenDwen in Chinese. Color circles around its face symbolize skating tracks and 5G technology. Bing, Chinese word for “ice”, shows purity and strength, but DwenDwen means sincerity, liveliness and health — also characteristics of pandas. Perhaps pandas are the animals most easily recognizing by us in China. The mascot combines our traditional culture and how pandas look like with winter sports elements. The image shows our great expect of the Games and that our Chinese welcome the world.
    第二处:was→ is
Color→ Colorful
    第六处:but→ and
    第七处:recognizing→ recognized
    第八处:how→ what
    第九处:expect→ expectation
    第十处:our→ we
修饰动词短语made its public appearance用副词,故official改为officially。
sb/sth is named...

此处为宾语从句,从句中的look like缺少宾语,故how改为what。
    第九处:考查名词。句意:这个形象显示了我们对冬奥会的殷切期望,也表明了我们中国人对世界的欢迎。作动词shows的宾语用名词,表示抽象意义,不可数,故expect改为expectation。
    第十处:考查代词。句意同上。此处在句中作主语,应该用代词的主格形式,故our改为we。
    第二节 书面表达(满分25分)
    52. 假定你是李华,正在伦敦某学校做交换生。你校要成立一些有关中国文化的社团,于是向同学们征求建议。请你给负责人写一封建议信,内容如下:
    1. 说明目的;
    2. 提出建议;
    3. 解释原因。
    注意:1. 词数100左右;
    2. 可以适当增加细节,以使行文连贯。
    【答案】Dear Sir or Madam,
I’m Li Hua, an exchange student studying in our school. Knowing that you’re planning to start some school clubs about Chinese culture, I’m writing and trying to make a suggestion.
Although there exist all kinds of school clubs, none of them focuses on traditional Chinese culture. My suggestion is that a Chinese painting club should be established. For one reason, Chinese painting is a form of art with a long history, which stands for the civilization of ancient China. For another, the club may appeal to more members — not only Chinese students, but also other students, because there is no language barrier to appreciate art.
I would be grateful for your taking my advice into good consideration. Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,
    Li Hua
    代表:represent→ stand for
    吸引:attract→ appeal to
    欣赏:enjoy→ admire/appreciate
    将……纳入考虑之中:consider →take…into consideration/account
I would be grateful for your taking my advice into good consideration.
I would be grateful if you take my advice into good consideration. .
【点评】[高分句型1] Knowing that you’re planning to start some school clubs about Chinese culture, I’m writing and trying to make a suggestion.
[高分句型2] For one reason, Chinese painting is a form of art with a long history, which stands for the civilization of ancient China.
