Trees help ther plants grw and help hld the sil in place. They keep the sil frm blwing away. The leaves f trees n the grund keep rainwater frm running ff. Trees near farms prtect(保护) grwing plants frm strng winds.
Once there were hundreds f farms in the Suthwestern United States. Then the farms turned int fields f dry dust(尘土). Trees might have saved these farms. But few trees grw in the dry Suthwest nw.
