      Li Daiyu and her cousin Liu Qian went to Canada to visit their cousins in Halifax on the Atlantic coast. They decided (1)to fly(fly) to Vancouver and then take the train.

    until与till

    until和till通常可以互换, 但在句首只能用until。

    *Until he graduated from college,  he lived with his parents.

    在肯定句中, 主句一般用延续性动词, 表示动作延续到until/till所指的时间为止; 在否定句中, 主句一般用非延续性动词, 表示“直到……才发生”。

    *He waited until his mother came back.

    *We won’t start until Bob comes.

    直到鲍勃来了我们才会开始。

    not. . . until. . . 的强调句型: It is/was not until . . .  that.

    *It is not until Bob comes that we will start.

    The students didn’t calm down until the teacher came in.

    It was not until the teacher came in that the students calmed down.  

    (2)You may stay here until/till the rain stops(直到雨停).  

    (3)You can’t see through the telescope until it is adjusted to your eyes (调节到适合于你的目光).

    within prep. 在……之内

    *Within minutes, another customer was approaching their table.
