be in a puzzle 不知如何是好be in a puzzle abut sth.对某事迷惑不解set a puzzle fr sb.=set sb.a puzzle 出个谜语叫某人猜puzzle abut/ver sth.苦苦思索;仔细琢磨puzzle sth.ut 琢磨出……的答案puzzle ne's brain 苦思冥想;绞尽脑汁puzzled adj.感到困惑的be puzzled by 被……迷惑puzzling adj.令人困惑的
由过去分词转化过来的形容词如:puzzled, cnfused,frightened,excited,tired,surprised 等,除了可以描述人的心理活动外,还可以用来修饰与人有关的一些名词,如 lk,vice, smile,expressin,face 等。

4.pull n.& vt.拉(力);拖;牵引力pull up 拔出;(使)停业
pull back 拉回来;缩回;(使)后退pull dwn 摧毁;拆毁;拆掉(房屋等)
pull in (车辆等)进站停靠;驶向路边(或某处)停靠pull ut 拔出;(列车等)驶出,出站,启程;退出pull tgether 齐心协力,团结起来pull thrugh 康复;痊愈〖用法指引〗
push (推)与 pull (拉)是两个作用力相对的动作。

in turn, in ne's turn 和 in return (fr)
(1)in turn 轮流;依次(A→B→C)。如:The children called ut their names in turn. 孩子们依次报出自己的名字。
(2)in ne's turn 轮到某人;接替。如:

(1)在主动语态中,stp 和 prevent 后的 frm 都可以省略,

cheer n 为……加油;(比赛中)以喝彩声鼓励Cheers! [口语](用于祝酒)干杯!with gd cheer 欣然地〖用法指引〗
(1)cheer up 做及物动词短语时,意为“使……高兴/振奋起
来”,宾语一般是 sb./neself。如:
Yu shuld cheer him/yurself up.你应该使他/你自己振作起来。(2)做不及物动词短语时,意为“(自己)高兴/振奋起来”,此时无宾语,不用被动语态。如:Hearing the gd news, I cheered up.听到这个好消息,我高兴了起来。

millins f years t cme will depend n whether this prblem canbe slved.所以,在未来的数百万年中,生命能否在地球上延续取决于这个问题能否得到解决。句中两个 whether 引导的从句均为名词性从句,前者是主语从句,后者是宾语从句。在引导宾语从句时 whether(介词的宾语从句除外)通常可以和 if 互换;但引导主语从句、表语从句或同位语从句时通常多用 whether 而不用 if。
