【学习目标】

1．学习目标

（1）能够借助关键词，在理解文章大意的基础上，找出段落主题句，完成读前问题；

（2）用所学的词汇和语言的对课文进行复述；

（3）能够借助已知的关键信息，适当补充辅助信息，写出内容和结构完整的记叙文。

2．语言能力目标

（1）能够正确运用以下简单句句式结构和记叙文六要素进行记叙文写作：adverbial (time), subject+verb+object+object complement；记叙文六要素：when, where, who, why, what, how。

（2）能正确认知并且运用以下词汇和短语：defend, attacker, punch, technique, effective, derive, migrant, catch attention to, limit to, manual, military, invasion, troop, adopt, methodology, defeat, pirate, certified等。

（1）如何使用地道、恰当的语言和结构进行记叙文写作；

（2）正确理解并运用简单句结构、定语从句关系代词和不定代词；

（3）礼貌进行日常对话。

（1）能用得体的英语书写记叙文；

（2）能正确定语从句关系代词以及使用语境。

【学习过程】

一、写作课

1. What are the six components of writing a story?

2. Read the story The Final Sprint, and answer the following questions:

(1) Who was the story about?

(2) What was the background?

(3) How did the story develop?

(4) What was the result?

3. Read the story again and identify its structure. Complete column in Activity 3 on Page 41.

4. Look at Sentence Builder. Write 2-3 sentences about the details that you are going to include in your story.

5. Write your own story.

(1) Make an outline. Tell each other what you are going to include in your story. Complete My Story column in Activity 3.

(2) Write a draft. Use your outline and read Writing Help to write your first draft.

(3) Edit your story in pairs.

The Final Sprint

1._______ was the final sprint of the Santa Barbara XV Grand Prix cyclo-cross race in Spain. Fans lined the road to the finishing line, 2.________ (cheer) on the competitors.

Ismael Esteban, in third place, was just ahead of his competitor, Agustin Navarro, 3.________ only 300 metres to the finishing line. Esteban had been cycling as hard as he could for hours and with the finishing line in sight. And all the cyclists began to speed up to cross it. Then, suddenly Esteban got a puncture. What should he do? Give up or continue? Esteban threw his bike over his shoulders and raced towards the finishing line.

Surely, he could simply overtake Esteban and come third. 5._________ Navarro slowed down and let Esteban run ahead of him.
