Fr my family, it als shwcased my mther's ability t always find a delicius way t never let anything g t waste: Last night's gd rice was repurpsed int this perfect mid­day snack r dinner appetizer.
    S, when I take a perfect little arancini ut f the ht il and crack it pen, I am immediately transprted back t my childhd: I am a little girl getting ff the bus and running thrugh the back dr t the smell f last night's rice transfrmed int sticky, delicate gdness. This small snack symblizes s many imprtant elements in my life: my mther's waste­nt philsphy, her ability t take a few simple ingredients and transfrm them, and finally, the way she carried her mther's recipes t the U. S. in her mind and heart s she culd, years later, teach me abut my heritage thrugh fd.

    [2020·沈阳市教学质量监测三]Researchers frm the MIT Media Lab, Bstn Children's Hspital, and Nrtheastern University used a rbtic teddy bear, “Huggable”, acrss the Bstn Children's Hspital. Mre than 50 hspitalized children were divided int three grups that invlved Huggable, a tablet­based virtual Huggable, r a traditinal ty teddy bear. In general, the rbtic Huggable imprved varius patient utcmes ver the ther tw chices.
    When first designed, Huggable was perated remtely by a specialist utside a child's rm fr a mment. Thrugh sftware, a specialist culd cntrl the rbt's facial expressins and bdy actins. The specialists culd als talk thrugh a speaker—with their vice autmatically changed t sund mre childlike—and bserve the participants via camera.
    During the treatments invlving Huggable fr kids aged 3 t 10, a specialist wuld sing nursery rhymes t yunger children thrugh the rbtic bear and mve the arms during the sng. Older kids wuld play the I Spy game, where they had t guess an bject in the rm described by the specialist thrugh Huggable. Thrugh self­reprts and questinnaires, the researchers recrded hw much the patients and families liked Huggable. A greater percentage f children and their parents reprted that the children enjyed playing with Huggable mre than with the virtual figure r traditinal teddy bear.
    The study prved the pssibility f including Huggable in the treatments fr children. Results als shwed that children playing with Huggable experienced mre psitive emtins verall. They als gt ut f bed and mved arund mre, and were emtinally cnnected with the rbt, asking it persnal questins and inviting it t cme back later t meet their families. “Such imprved emtinal and physical utcmes are all psitive factrs that culd cntribute t hspitalized children's better and faster recvery,” the researchers wrte in their study.
    The study als prvided a basis fr develping a fully autnmus Huggable rbt, which is the researchers' final gal. In the future, that autmated rbt culd be used t imprve children's further treatment and care, and mnitr their well­being.

    [2020·青岛市高三练习诊断]In recent years, stressed­ut peple living in cities have been seeking prtectin in green spaces fr the prven psitive impacts n physical and mental health,but the benefits f “blue spaces”—nt nly the sea and castline, but als rivers, lakes, canals, waterfalls, even funtains—are less well advertised, yet the science has been cnsistent fr at least a decade:being by water is gd fr the bdy and mind.
    “Many f the prcesses are exactly the same as with green spaces—with sme added benefits,” says Dr. Mathew White, a senir lecturer at the University f Exeter.
    White says there are three established pathways by which the presence f water is psitively related t health and happiness. First, there are the beneficial envirnmental factrs, such as less plluted air and mre sunlight. Secnd, peple wh live by water tend t be mre physically active. Third—and this is where blue spaces seem t have an advantage ver ther natural envirnments—water has a psychlgical recvery effect. When yu are sailing, surfing r swimming, says White, “yu're really in step with natural frces there.”
    Catherine Kelly is a wellness practitiner wh teaches classes in “mindfulness by the sea”. She says the sea has a quality that can make peple thughtful.
