展开No DrugsⅠ.阅读理解A(2020·陕西省百校联盟TOP20联考)Scientists from around the world examined whether supplements marketed are good for brain health, particularly in those aged over 50. Despite the claims of some supplements that they could improve cognitive (认知的) skills, no clear evidence was found to back this up.The report said, “For the handful that have been researched, several welldesigned studies of supplements for brain health found no benefit in people with normal nutrient levels. It's unclear whether people who lack nutrition can benefit their brains by taking a supplement. The pills failed to protect against dementia (痴呆) and did not slow the process or improve the symptoms of the disease and the report said that a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables, being physically active and getting sufficient sleep were linked to better brain function.”The value of the food supplement market in Britain is expected to reach more than £1 billion by 2012 and supplements sold on the high street for brain performance cost up to £26 for 60 pills. And Caroline Abrahams, the charity director at Age UK said that people were better off spending money to improve diets. The report did find evidence suggesting that supplements could benefit people diagnosed with lacking vitamin. It added that these should only be taken if advised by a doctor because some supplements could interact with medicines or contain high levels of nutrients, which could be deadly. Supplements were not strictly controlled in the way that medicines were and may not contain highquality ingredients or what was on the label, the report said. The Health Food Manufacturers' Association, which represents the British supplement industry, said that the report was based on the American market. In Britain products could only make claims approved by the European Food Safety Authority, such as the zinc (锌) contributed to normal cognitive functions, a spokesman said.篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章讲述了科学家们发现补充剂并不能增强大脑健康和对抗痴呆症,同时给出了相应的建议。1.What is the finding of the scientists about the supplements?A.They bring about no positive effect. Your mind is in an endless circle playing what you said and did over and over again. You wish you had a time capsule (时间囊) to go back and make things change if you find mistakes. You fear what others will think about you and that they will reject and dislike you. You seek to be socially perfect.Academically, you work long endless hours just to make those excellent marks. Although most would say “it's good to have high standards\”, they have no idea about the internal hell you put yourself through to achieve perfection. If you don't achieve the desired goal you feel as though you have failed, but you're far from failing, you just don't see it that way. So instead you are telling yourself that you're stupid and not smart. The pressure you place on yourself weighs you down and you wear the “not good enough\” label each and every day.You not only have high standards for yourself but you also have them for others. If people don't perform up to your expectations, then you think them incompetent. This causes a lot of frustration because you can't trust anyone to get things right. So instead of being a team player you fly solo (单飞) and try to do two or three jobs at once. Your unrealistic expectations cause you to criticize and judge others and that leads to problems in other areas of your life. The attempt to be perfect is called perfectionism and it's damaging our emotional and mental health. We strive for perfection with our body, in our performance, and in our relationships. In a society that overstates mistakes, is it any wonder that so many young people attempt the impossible task of being perfect? We all have flaws, fears and make mistakes, and that's perfectly OK. It's our imperfections that make life interesting and they help us grow into a stronger and more adaptable person. We don't have to be a stronger and more adaptable person. We don't have to strive to achieve the impossible goal. We are designed to be perfectly imperfect.篇章导读:本文是一篇议论文。过度追求完美不仅影响身心健康,还会对别人苛求进而产生很多问题。我们注定不完美,我们要接受自己的不完美。5.Where is this text most likely from?A.A diary. B.A novel.C.A magazine. Confidence turns thoughts into action. It comes from the genes you are born with, the way people get used to treating you as well as the choices you make. While it isn't possible to completely separate these three factors, the personal choices we make obviously play a major role in confidence development. As a result, by keeping certain practical tips in mind, we do actually have the power to cultivate our own confidence.__2__ If you're looking for a long-term change, consider the way you think about your abilities and talents. Do you think they are fixed at birth, or that they can be developed? These beliefs matter because they can influence how you act in the face of setbacks. If you have a fixed mindset, meaning that your talents are locked in the place, you might give up, assuming you've discovered something you're not good at. But if you have a growth mindset, and think your abilities can improve, a challenge will become an opportunity to learn and grow. Neuroscience (神经科学) supports the latter. The connections in your brain do get stronger and grow with study and practice. __3__Practicing failure is a must. Failure happens. __4__ J. K. Rowling was rejected by twelve different publishers before one picked up Harry Potter. The Wright brothers built on history's failed attempts at flight before designing a successful airplane. Studies show that those who fail regularly and keep trying anyway are better equipped to respond to challenges in constructive ways. __5__ So, think of a challenge you want to take on, realize it's not going to be easy, accept that you'll make mistakes, and be kind to yourself when you do. You'll feel the excitement, knowing that whatever the result, you'll have gained greater knowledge and understanding.A.But what is confidence?B.So can confidence be easily cultivated?C.Everyone is possible to encounter failure.D.Being a talented person is quite necessary.E.They learn to try different strategies and persevere.F.Believing in your abilities to improve is the first step.G.It also turns out that people with a growth mindset are better at dealing with challenges. 3.G 根据上文中的“But if you have a growth mindset ... grow with study and practice.” Ⅲ.语法填空(2019·宁夏自治区银川一中高三月考)The British have many traditions but there is nothing more quintessential (典型的) than taking afternoon tea. I have learned something about smoking in our country and I'd like to answer all your questions. As far as I know, more and more people have realized smoking does great harm to health. As a result, they have made up their minds to give up smoking. It is a pity that we don't have a law banning smoking in public places, but there are signs reminding people to limit smoking in public places. I'm sure our government will take measures to help people to do so. That's all I know about smoking in our country. Hoping that it will be helpful to you. Keep in touch and best wishes! Yours,Zhou Kai
