      On the first day f schl this year, Jseph Riley, the principal f Pcahntas Cunty High Schl in West Virginia, drpped by the band classrm and tld the 38 students that the schl had been unable t find a band teacher after the frmer teacher left ver the summer t take a teaching psitin at a different schl.
      “I said that we’d have t get them int ther classes,” Riley said. Then he gave the students a secnd ptin. If the teens wanted t keep the Warrirs band ging and teach themselves, the schl wuld supprt them. Mst students decided t take a different class, but ten students tk him up n the ffer. The guys didn’t give up in the face f adversity and they fund the curage t keep the band ging.
      The ten band members elected Hailey Fitzgerald, 17, as band directr, and then invited tw teachers frm the schl t serve as advisrs. Math teacher Jennifer Nail-Ck agreed t ffer supprt. “They’re an ensemble (合奏团队) tgether,” Fitzgerald said. “They als had t slve a prblem when they realized they had t many drummers.” The band’s latest perfrmance was at their schl’s Hmecming Day. “When we d ur schl sng, that’s prbably everybdy’s favrite,” said Jadyn Lane, 17. “T see s many peple supprting and cheering us n, that’s a huge mtivatr.”

That was, until the intrductin f the Warde installatin, which is part f a greater plan t revitalise the neglected urban spaces in Jerusalem’s city centre.
      The installatin features giant red “flwers” which can pen and clse in reactin t passers-by. Standing under ne f the flwers will cause it t pen and stay pen until yu leave, prviding shade (阴凉) and relief frm the ht summer sun. At night-time, it functins as lighting, prviding a sptlight while pen and a warm, sft light while clsed.       Art installatins can be pwerful in changing the attitudes and behavir f peple in cities.
