China’s Fridges Use Less Pwer Starting in 2026
Hw much electricity des yur fridge use? Because f the new rules starting n June 1, 2026, fridges in China use less electricity and prvide mre space fr fd, accrding t The Paper.
If yu want t see hw much electricity a fridge uses, lk at the China Energy Label. It is a blue-and-white sticker n the frnt f the fridge. This label was first intrduced in 2005. It shws levels frm class 1 t class 5. Class 1 is the best. Many machines, like TVs and washing machines, als have this label t help peple chse wisely.
The new rules are stricter. Fr example, befre, a 500-liter fridge culd be class 1 if it used 0.92 kilwatt-hurs (kWh) each day. Under the new rules, it must use n mre than 0.55 kWh. This can save abut 135 kWh f electricity in a year and it csts abut 68 yuan less, CCTV said.
Since ur cuntry sells abut 60 millin fridges each year, this means China can save abut 8 billin kWh in electricity!
Fridge sizes als matter in the new rules. Expert Cheng Jianhng said fridge makers must give 10 t 30 percent mre space inside. They can d this by using new technlgy, such as thinner insulatin materials (绝缘材料).
