Sending medical help t hard-t-reach places has been a prblem fr years. In Rwanda, sme small hspitals dn’t have enugh medicine. As a result, many peple die. A lcal cmpany is trying t use drnes t slve this prblem. Drnes can quickly prvide healthcare service t the hspitals arund Rwanda, and mre peple receive life-saving medicine. Drnes als help after natural disasters. In 2015, a heavy strm hit Vanuatu, leaving many peple hmeless. Drnes tk pictures fr the rescue (救援) teams. This helped the teams judge the situatin quickly and ffer help t the areas that were hardest hit.
Drnes are als helping envirnmental rganizatins. Every year, pachers (偷猎者) kill many endangered animals. T stp them, the WWF uses drnes. “They help us see things that we can’t,” says Clby, wh wrks fr the WWF. Drnes can easily identify (识别) pachers in the dark. As well as finding pachers, these tls can be used t fllw and prtect animals. Scientists at a university plan t use them fr a prject: recrding wildlife and identifying animal grups. Scientists in Brazil have fund a new methd t clean water. They can use seeds (种子) frm a tree t clean dirty water. The water ften has tiny plastic pieces in it. These are called micrplastics. Micrplastics are tiny bits f plastic, less than 0.5 cm lng. They can be t small t see. They can get inside the bdies f living things, including humans.
There is a kind f tree called a Mringa tree, which grws well in ht areas and lts f peple eat its leaves and seeds. Fr years, scientists have studied if the seeds can wrk n micrplastics t clean dirty water. Nw, they have gd news. In their latest study, the team fund that a substance (物质) frm the seeds was very useful. When they put this substance in the water, the micrplastics wuld stick tgether. The scientists first tested the methd n tap water (自来水). They added micrplastics t the water. Then, they cmpared their new methd with a ppular ne. The ppular methd is mre harmful t the envirnment.
