      It seems that great artists and scientists ften suffer frm mental (精神的) prblems. Bth Einstein and Dickens had mental illness. Nw scientists have started t lk at whether mental illness and genius are linked.
      Dr Adele Juda studied 5,000 creative peple in Germany. She fund there were mre peple with mental illness in this grup than in the general ppulatin. Pets had the highest rate (比例) f mental illness, fllwed by musicians, with lwer numbers fr painters and architects.
      Other scientists did research which als shwed a strng link between mental prblems and creativity. But, it did nthing t explain it.
      Dr Ruth Richards f Harvard University made a breakthrugh. Instead f studying creative peple, she tk a grup f psychiatric (精神病的) patients and tested them fr creativity. The patients gt much higher scres than a nrmal grup.
      Als, the patients' clse relatives were much mre creative than the patients and a nrmal grup. This suggests that the key t the link between creativity and mental illness is in ur genes.
