Kenney and her team examined data (数据) frm a grup f 4,000 children, aged 6 t 19, between the years f 2012 and 2015. While examining the data, she nticed that mre than half f the kids didn’t drink enugh water. Of that grup, bys were 76% mre likely than girls t nt have enugh water in their system. Nearly ne quarter f the kids reprted drinking n plain water (白水) at all.
“These findings are very imprtant because they pint ut a ptential health prblem that has nt been given a lt f attentin in the past.” Kenney said. “Even thugh fr mst f these kids this is nt an immediate, serius health prblem, this is a prblem that culd really have a harmful influence n health and life fr many children years later.”
The human bdy is made up f 60% water. Nt drinking enugh water can lead t health prblems like headaches r pr physical perfrmance. Yur bdy needs mre water when yu are in ht weather, when yu are physically active, and if yu have a fever.
The United States Natinal Agricultural Library says n average, kids need between 10 t 14 cups f water every day. This water can cme frm bth drinks and fds that have high amunts f water, such as celery, meln, r tmates. It is als suggested that fluids (液体) cme frm water instead f sugary drinks that are high in calries (卡路里) and can lead t weight prblems.
“The gd news is that this is a public health prblem with a simple slutin.” said anther scientist. Steven Grtmaker, “If we can help children drink mre water — a lw cst, n calrie fluid — we can imprve their health, which may allw many children t feel better thrughut the day and d better in schl.”

D yu knw what t d if yu see a pythn (蟒蛇) in yur cmmunity? What abut a seven- ft lng American lizard in frnt f yur huse? Peple wh live in mst areas in the United States d nt have experiences like these. But if yu live in suthern Flrida, yu may run int a number f extic (外来的) animals.
Extic pets have becme mre and mre ppular in recent years in Flrida. Peple ften buy an animal as a baby withut realizing hw difficult it may be t care fr that animal when it is fully-grwn. Fr example, Burmese pythns are easy t buy at extic pet stres r nline. When the snake is yung, it des nt require much mre wrk than ther pet. But Burmese pythns can grw t be mre than 20 feet lng and can weigh abut 250 punds. There is nt much space in the typical American hme r yard t care fr such a big animal! When the snake utgrws its cage and its wner becmes bred with caring and feeding it, the snake may be left in a wild area.
In ther parts f the cuntry, many f these extic animals wuld prbably nt be able t live lng in the wild. But the climate(气候) in suthern Flrida is wet and warm — similar t the areas where many f the animals are naturally fund. Many extic pets have gradually gt used t the new situatin in Flrida’s natural areas, and when enugh f them are free in the wild, they can start breeding(繁殖).
The prblem with these unexpected animals is that scientists dn’t always knw which nes will change r harm the lcal envirnment. In the last few years, peple visiting Flrida’s Everglades Natinal Park have watched fights between American alligatrs(短嘴鳄) and extic pythns. It is nt hard t imagine the effect f aggressive(凶悍的) animals. But even animals like vervet mnkeys, which seem harmless, cmpete with ther animals that eat the same plants. If their presence r behavir causes a change in the habits f lcal animals, the verall changes can be far-reaching.
Think abut a set f dmins (多米诺牌) lined up next t ne anther, Nne f them may be tuching, but as sn as yu tip ne ver, the whle rw will fall dwn.

B. explain why extic pets appear in the wild
C. suggest right ways t lk after extic pets
D. stress the imprtance f caring fr extic pets

D. Because peple there prtect animals well.
55. What may be the writer’s pinin n extic pets?
A. Seeing different kinds f extic pets in the wild is exciting.
B. Extic pets and lcal animals shuld be kept in different wild areas.
C. Extic pets in the wild may break the balance f the lcal envirnment.
D. Harmless extic animals can live peacefully with lcal animals in the wild.

Sn mvie theaters began selling ppcrn t. This started the traditin f eating ppcrn at the mvies. At this time ppcrn became mre ppular than ever. Fr a shrt time thugh, peple began eating less ppcrn.
