“There has never been an airplane s big, s light, using s little energy,” said Bertrand Piccard, a leader f the prject.
During the 90-minute flight, Lwcarbn did several turns. It climbs nearly 1.6 km abve the cuntryside.
Engineers plan t test a night flight in July. Then they will use the results f the tests t build a secnd plane. They plan t travel arund the wrld in that plane in 2012. “We want t fly it day and night with n fuel,” Piccard said.
Piccard and pilt Andre Brschberg will take Lwcarbn arund the wrld .They will make a few stps t change places and rest after a lng time in the air----and t shw ff their aircraft.
Lwcarbn flies at 70 kph n average(平均). That is faster than a bike and slwer than a car. The pilts will keep it in the air fr up t five days at a time.
