(2026·江苏南京月考) Kevin and I were friends in the elementary schl. As hnr students, bth f us sat in the frnt f the class, but n ppsite sides. He was the smartest by I’d ever knwn, wh almst always gt straight A’s in study. Actually, I was secnd nly t him. Part f me wanted t hate him, but I culdn’t. After all, we were clse cmpanins. Instead, I envied him and lnged with all my heart t be just like him.
Mrs. Becker, ur teacher, was a patient, kind ld lady. She wuld flash a pleasant smile, when the class gt int an argument, and patiently guide us tward the crrect answer. Last week, Mrs. Becker, put a big circle n the blackbard and said it was a pizza pie. “David,” she said t me, “If I were t divide the pizza, wuld yu like ne-third r ne-tenth?”. Ten is the bigger number, s that’s what I picked. At that mment, Kevin started waving his hand in the air, shuting that he chse ne-third. Mrs. Becker drew lines n the circle, shwing that Kevin’s piece f the pie was bigger than mine. “David’s ging t get hungry,” Kevin jked. Then the whle class was laughing.
My expressin changed frm a half smile, t a half frwn, t ne hundred percent unhappy face. With a mixture f bitterness and envy slipping int my heart, I began t argue with him n purpse during the rest f class. Thus, a heated argument unavidably brke ut when a cntrversial tpic appeared. After hearing ur separate statements patiently, Mrs. Becker brught us up t the frnt f the class and placed Kevin n ne side f her desk and me n the ther. In the middle f her desk was a large, rund bject. I culd clearly see that it was black. She asked Kevin what clr the bject was. “White,” he answered. I culdn’t believe he said the bject was white, when it was bviusly black!
