A French auctineer sld a 200-year-ld vilin bw (弓) made by Françis Xavier Turte, regarded as the Antni Stradivari f bw-making, fr a recrd €576,000. Turte was amng the first t make cnsistent use f a raw material that is still prized tday fr the best bws: pernambuc, r brazilwd.
A mdern rchestra (管弦乐团) is a grup f dancing brazilwd sticks. And that’s a prblem. Cutting dwn, urban expansin and farming have greatly reduced Brazil’s Atlantic frest, where the tree grws, t an eighth f its frmer area. The number f wild trees has drpped by fur fifths in less than a century. Cnsequently, CITES, an internatinal agreement, has restricted trade in brazilwd prducts since 2007.
But Brazil’s gvernment wants CITES t list the trees amng the mst endangered species, giving them the highest prtectin. A CITES meeting in Samarkand that starts n Nvember 24th will decide whether t d s. The prpsal has spked thse wrking n Turte’s craft and the musicians wh depend n it. Lvers f art and lvers f nature are ften sulmates, but brazilwd is separating them.
The prtectin upgrade Brazil wants wuld make life difficult fr them and fr musicians. Any bw, even ne f Turte’s, wuld require a certificate t crss brders. Wrkers are still cutting dwn brazilwd trees illegally t supply the bw-making industry, Brazil’s envirnmental agency claims.
Hwever, it can be pssible t save bth brazilwd and bws. Arund 3 millin trees have been planted since the early 1970s, sme with the help f bw-makers. Sme f these culd be harvested after 30 — 40 years f grwth t make bws as the existing stcks f brazilwd run ut. Wild trees need better prtectin, and gvernments and musicians can d better at registering existing stcks f brazilwd and keeping track f bws. If that can happen, there is a chance t save a remarkable tree withut silencing the music.
28.Why is the use f brazilwd in mdern rchestras a prblem?
      A.Brazilwd bws are t expensive.
B.T many brazilwd sticks are wasted.

B.Prper measures can make brazilwd and bws cexist.
C.There are enugh wild brazilwd trees fr bw-making nw.
D.Affrdable materials fr making bws are highly demanded.

In January, Jensen Huang, CEO f Nvidia, declared that we are entering the era f physical AI, where AI evlves frm language mdels and chatbts int machines with real physical abilities. The new directin f autmatin is t enable rbts t think, learn and adapt like humans during wrk. Hwever, the lack f transparency (透明) regarding the human labr invlved in training and perating such rbts leaves the public misunderstanding their real abilities and failing t ntice the new frms f wrk existing behind them.
In the AI age, rbts usually learn by bserving and cpying human actins. T cllect enugh data, wrkers are ften asked t wear special devices t d simple tasks thusands f times ver. Sme delivery cmpanies even require their wrkers t wear mvement-tracking sensrs, whse data will later be used t train rbts. This means building humanid rbts will need large numbers f wrkers t act as data cllectrs in a great size.
Besides, many rbts depend n tele-peratin t cmplete difficult tasks. Fr example, 1X, a startup, will ship its $20,000 humanid rbt Ne t hmes this year. If Ne gets stuck r faces tricky tasks, tele-peratrs frm its Califrnia headquarters will pilt it via cameras t irn clthes r unlad dishwashers. Althugh authrizatin is btained frm custmers, there is n guarantee f infrmatin security fr users. If rbts are nt truly autnmus, the service is mre like a frm f cheap labr, similar t the traditinal gig ecnmy.
Similar prblems have lng existed in cntent screening and data assembly, where lw-paid wrkers deal with terrible infrmatin. These wrkers have t spend lng hurs reviewing disturbing r even harmful cntent t ensure AI mdels can distinguish right frm wrng. Hwever, the human wrk is ften unseen, making the public verestimate machine abilities, which is gd fr investrs (投资者) but dangerus fr rdinary peple.
If physical AI is t becme part f ur wrkplaces and hmes, greater transparency frm rbtics cmpanies regarding training and tele-peratin is essential. Withut it, the public may mistakenly regard hidden human labr as genuine machine intelligence.
32.Hw can wrkers help rbts learn?
A.By entering the delivery industry.B.By designing mvement-tracking devices.
C.By building humanid rbts independently.D.By repeating simple tasks with special devices.
33.What des the example f Ne shw?
A.Tele-peratin brings privacy risks.B.Rbts will take ver husehld chres.
C.1X is the first t develp humanid rbts.D.Tele-perating rbts is rather challenging.
34.What is the main idea f paragraph 4?
A.Wrkers in AI-related fields are suffering a lt.
B.Cntent screening is an essential step in training AI mdels.
C.Investrs benefit a lt frm the develpment f AI technlgy.
D.Invisible human labr leads t wrng views n machine abilities.
35.What is the authr’s advice fr rbtics cmpanies?
A.Be mre pen abut rbt training.B.Strengthen the autnmy f rbts.
C.Reduce the cst f humanid rbts.D.Avid human labr in training rbts.

When material pssessins (财富) are shrt, the lve frm family and friends becmes valuable. 37 This view develps a deep appreciatin fr genuine cnnectins ver material gains. Priritizing these cnnectins leads t a fulfilling life, which can never be replaced by mney.
Anther insight frm individuals wh experienced pverty firsthand is that they dn’t need mre mney than what they actually need. Experiencing life with limited wealth teaches the imprtance f distinguishing between needs and wants. Thse wh grew up pr ften priritize essentials. 38 This understanding leads t a minimalist mindset, where cllecting mre isn’t the gal. Instead, satisfactin lies in meeting basic needs and appreciating the simple pleasures in life.
39 Individuals frm disadvantaged backgrunds ften witness hw pr health can wrsen financial struggles. They value healthy habits and recgnize the imprtance f being well mre. Investing in health becmes a fundamental principle, as it enables individuals t pursue gals and experience life fully.
Peple wh grew up in pverty ften develp an incredible ability t maintain relatinships, hld a psitive mindset and adpt healthy habits. They knw hw t cnnect with the lved nes genuinely, hw t diversify meals t ensure nutritin and hw t find free r lw-cst ways t enjy life. This adaptability is a skill that serves them well thrughut life. 40
A.Life’s purpse is determined by hw much ne earns.
B.They are aware that frtune isn’t necessarily equal t happiness.
C.Limited access t healthcare highlights the imprtance f wellness.
D.These cnnectins prvide emtinal supprt that mney simply can’t buy.
E.Even if they eventually achieve financial stability, it stays with them frever.
