My Biggest Challenge As a writer n an adventure sprts magazine, I'd always fught shy f ding the adventurus stuff myself, preferring instead t bserve the experts frm a safe distance and relay their experiences t readers in the frm f written language. Thus, when I was challenged t take part in a muntain climb in aid f raising mney fr charity—and t write abut it afterwards—I was unwilling, t say the least.
I was lucky enugh t have a brilliant climbing cach called Keith, wh put me thrugh my paces after my daily wrk. He gave me knwledge abut everything frm the imprtance f building muscle grups t hw t avid tiredness thrugh nutritin. It quickly became apparent that the mechanics f climbing were mre cmplex than I had imagined. There was the equipment and techniques I'd never even heard f, all f which wuld cme in handy n the snw-capped peak I'd be climbing.
Aware f the challenge, Keith made a detailed actin plan and I frced myself t stick t it, ding a daily wrkut at the gym and ging n hikes with a heavy pack. I perfected my technique n the climbing wall and even went t climb the muntains t get vital experience. My self-belief increased alngside my muscle pwer and I became cnfident abut finishing the climb.
All t sn I was n a plane t my destinatin. On that day, when I lked up at the muntain, I thught f abandning it. But then I remembered all the hard wrk I'd dne and hw disappinted Keith wuld be if I gave up at the last minute—nt t mentin letting dwn the charity and the sense f failure I'd experience myself. With a deep breath I gathered my equipment and headed ut int the sunshine t meet the rest f the grup.
And as I sit here nw, tapping away n my laptp, I'm amazed at the details in which I can recall every secnd f the climb: the burning muscles, the tiredness, the minr prblems alng the way. Culd I have been better prepared? Pssibly. Wuld I be back fr anther g? Thankfully nt. The feeling f being excited when I std n tp f the wrld is a never-t-be-repeated experience but ne I will enjy frever nevertheless.

The Rise f Vice Technlgy
Vice technlgy has cme a lng way. Just a few years ag, it wuld have been unusable. But nw, thse wh fllw the technlgy knw that it has gt cnsiderably better.
Writing with yur vice raises several interesting questins. Hw difficult is it actually? Human speech invlves a lt mre starting and stpping with errrs and the need fr repairing brken sentences than yu may think. Even gifted speakers make mistakes. T turn the spken wrd int reasnable writing requires lts f planning. Yu'll need sme kinds f ntes r ther rganisers t make it wrk.
Anther questin turning speech int writing raises is the style. Hw wuld writing make the change that peple speak their writing rather than type? Chances are that it wuld cme up with many mre shrt sentences and mre cncrete language, which is gd. It wuld prbably als rely n prepared phrases a lt mre ften, which is nt available when yu are speaking quickly.
T cnfirm this, a clumn was nt written, but dictated(听写). It was cmpsed frm brief ntes written dwn fr structure nly, and it was edited fr length, with all f the riginal errrs kept in. Here were the results. The first was that the literal accuracy was extremely high. There weren't many cases where the sftware had heard ne wrd incrrectly and written dwn anther. But the ther result was that the readability f this clumn was rather bad. Obviusly, the blame is nt with the technlgy at all, which turns ut t be rather gd. Speaking int writing relies n a better human brain than the ne we currently pssess. Writing is hard. There's a reasn it can't be dne at the speed f speech, in real time.
T clarify the matter, this time paragraph breaks were added after the whle writing. Punctuatins (标点) had t be spken alud, and after a full stp, the first wrd in the new sentence was capitalized autmatically. Sme minr punctuatin marks were added t make it clearer. T imprve accuracy, peple "trained" the sftware befrehand, reading a prewritten passage alud. Actually it turns ut t be mre effective. All f these ensure the satisfactry cmpletin f turning speech int writing.
Language is the mst imprtant tl fr human interactin, and vice is ne beautiful part f language. With the maturity f mdern technlgy, it has given birth t a great change in the human-cmputer vice interactin.
9.Accrding t the passage, which helps t turn speech int writing in terms f style?
A. There is careful planning in advance.
B. Errrs and brken sentences are avided.
C. Peple type wrds as fast as they say them.
D. The writing cntains mre prepared phrases.
10.T achieve better results, the authr mentins sme changes fr ______.
A. prcessing errrs in a clumn
B. adding minr punctuatin marks
C. increasing the number f brief ntes
D. integrating shrt paragraphs in writing
11.The authr suggests that ______.
A. human brains are respnsible fr pr dictated writing
B. writing with vice prmises t imprve the quality f writing
C. writing is an unnatural act that can hardly be learned and imprved
D. technlgy has a lng way t g in the human-cmputer vice interactin
12.What is the passage mainly abut?
A. Why peple fully intend t turn speech int writing.
B. What rle vice technlgy plays in imprving readability.
C. Where the human-cmputer vice interactin is at an advantage.
D. Hw vice technlgy enables the change frm speech int writing.

A Bridge Linking Art and the Audience
Accrding t a 2018 reprt, peple aged between 16 and 24 make up abut 15 percent f the ppulatin but nly 10 percent f museum-gers. Similarly, peple aged ver 35 g half as much as yu wuld expect frm their ppulatin size. We have reached the pint f recgnising the discnnectin between art and the audience but haven't yet determined hw t bridge the gap. Tw answers t tackling this challenge lie in telling a greater diversity f art histries and cmmunicating these stries in mre accessible ways.
In 2018, a radi prgram called Art Matters was started with the aim f discussing art frm a pp-culture viewpint with tpics that wuld engage yunger and mre diverse audience. It ffers an accessible pathway t art histry with cnversatins n different tpics. Art histry is abut strytelling; art cntent shines when there is an effrt t bring audience alng fr the discussin.
Mre traditinal institutins are paying attentin. Recently the Getty Museum issued a scial-media challenge fr peple t recreate paintings using items they had at hme. Users displayed incredible creativity, and the museum was flded with submissins. This reactin prves that there is a ptential desire fr the audience t engage with art tpics if the frmat is appealing. Since many peple feel intimidated and think that there's a base level f understanding required t jin the cnversatin, the Getty initiative serves as a reminder that there are many pathways t engaging with it.
Anther result f the Getty challenge was the expsure given t a diversity f artwrks. The famus pera singer Peter Brathwaite, fr example, made scres f attractive recreatins highlighting centuries f black paintings. His effrts ppsed the idea that there were nt many histrical paintings f black figures. It is extremely imprtant that we d a better jb f shwing the cmplex and diverse stries that are represented in art.
Scial media have ffered a platfrm fr peple wh have nt traditinally had a seat at the table. Anyne can recgnise a gap in the field and address it. Accunts have gathered tens f thusands f fllwers. They are the prf that there is hunger t hear these art histries, and these themes wrk brilliantly fr museum prgramming.
But there is nly s much that can be dne withut the museums and galleries changing meaningfully frm within. We need t see a better balance f these stries represented in permanent cllectins. We als need a much wider diversity f peple and interests represented n bard. Ensuring that art — and writing and talking abut art — is able t cntinue n the rising generatin f strytellers, inside and utside f institutins, getting the funding and supprt they need t paint a brighter picture fr the part.
13.What challenge is the authr trying t tackle?
A. Peple dubt a great diversity f artwrks.
B. Fewer and fewer yung peple g t museums.
C. Art appears t distant frm cmmn audience.
D. Adult audience has a different understanding f art.
14.What des the underlined wrd "intimidated" in Paragraph 3 prbably mean?
A. Tired.B. Wrried.C. Annyed.D. Surprised.
15.In the authr's pinin, the museums and galleries shuld ______.
A. make the art histry stries accessible in a traditinal way
B. change meaningfully fr activities like the Getty challenge
C. limit the number f strytellers bth in and ut f institutins
D. imprve the permanent cllectins by adding famus artwrks
16.We can cnclude frm the passage that cmmn audience ______.
A. lacks the channels t understand and talk abut art histry
B. prefers t view artwrks and hear art stries n scial media
C. feels satisfied with peple and interests represented n bard
D. refuses t engage with diverse art tpics and art histry stries

On the ther hand, dyscalculics are very gd at creative arts. Peple suffering frm dyscalculia can becme painters r pets. Dyscalculia des nt seem t delay language acquisitin. Dyscalculic children acquire language at the same time as, if nt earlier than, mst children and have n prblem learning t read r write. (21)

B.This disability scares children away frm learning mathematics.
C.They have t g thrugh the rutine f cunting even a small number f bjects.
D.It is quite reasnable fr dyscalculics t slve this kind f specific prblem at any time.
