Last week, I visited my lcal bank t put a cheque int my accunt. While the prcedure itself was relatively
simple and user-friendly, I chse t duble-check the details with the teller (出纳员) t ensure accuracy. The teller,
apparently new t rle, was unsure abut the steps. He called his manager fr assistance. The manager patiently
explained everything t me, and I really appreciated what he did.
Hwever, as the manager explained the steps, I culdn’t help but ntice the teller’s lack f engagement.
Instead f absrbing the guidance, he ccupied himself with smething else. What struck me mst was the manager’
s passive respnse t this behavir. Rather than encuraging the teller t fcus n his instructin attentively, he
simply cmpleted the task himself and returned t his ffice.
On my way hme, reflecting n the situatin, I realized that the manager failed t use a preventive methd.
This might lead t the teller’s asking fr help again in the future, causing the manager t repeatedly leave his desk
t manage the same issues. This wuld definitely interrupt the manager’s rutine wrk and waste his precius time,
which culd therwise be better spent n his cre duties. Obviusly, if the rt cause f the prblem is nt slved,
such situatin will happen mre than nce again, and it will ptentially affect custmer satisfactin.
This experience reveals a fundamental truth: It is a must t enable peple t handle tasks independent f
external assistance. We shuldn’t emphasize the significance f having a clear visin t much. It invlves
predicting future needs and making the right mves t slve them. Thus, we shuld begin with the end in mind,
planning fr lng-term success. After all, sustainable success begins nt with fixing tday’s issues, but with
preventing tmrrw’s.
4. Why did the teller turn t the manager fr help?
A. He was busy with ther affairs.
B. The prcedure was t cmplex.
C. He had uncertainty as a new emplyee.
D. The matter was nt in the charge f him.
5. What kind f help did the manager ffer t the teller?
A. Abslute replacement. B. Passive respnse.
C. Prfessinal guidance. D. Sincere encuragement.
6. What key strategy des the authr recmmend t slve such issues?
第 4页/共 17页
A. Making a further plan abut regulatin.
B. Emphasizing the imprtance f preventin.
C. Having a clear visin f persnal develpment.
D. Cultivating independence thrugh empwerment.
7. Which f the fllwing prverbs best matches the main idea f the text?
A. Many hands make light wrk.
B. Nthing is difficult t the man wh will try.
C Hpe fr the best and prepare fr the wrst.
D. Teach a man t fish and yu feed him fr a lifetime.

Peple are taking their health int their wn hands it seems, as nearly half f UK adults (48%) have turned t
nline health infrmatin t self-diagnse in the past year, with 18% f 16-24-year-lds ding s at least fur times,
accrding t an AXA survey f 4,000 peple. The trend reflects grwing reliance n digital resurces in scial
media fr health advice.
While cmmn issues like hay fever (27%), sunburn (19%), and clds (34%) dminate self-diagnses, 32%
reprt self-diagnsing their mental health cnditins. Cases f anxiety and ADHD (多 动 症 ) are increasingly
self-identified thrugh TikTk symptm checklists, thugh experts warn such methds lack clinical preciseness.
One 24-year-ld participant shared: “I diagnsed myself with depressin after nline tests, but my dctr later
wed it t vitamin D deficiency.”
S, why are peple turning t Dr Ggle fr help? Over a third(36%) cmplained abut the difficulties
securing timely appintments, while 22% avided the NHS due t fears f lng waits. With NHS waiting lists
hitting 7.5 millin — a recrd high — Prime Minister Keir Starmer prmised in January t end backlgs and
make millins mre appintments available, prviding greater chice and cnvenience fr patients.
As patients increasingly use nline research as a first step, AXA’s reprt stresses the urgent need fr reliable
digital health ecsystems. Research shws 52% f UK adults encunter cnflicting medical advice nline, and 1 in
3 struggle t distinguish credible surces. T deal with this, the reprt prpses three measures: cnfirmatin f the
qualificatin fr healthcare prfessinals n scial media, stricter cntent grading plicies, and autmatic early
warning fr misleading claims — a system already pilted by many platfrms fr COVID-19 misinfrmatin.
With the healthcare system at a crssrads, bridging the gap between digital cnvenience and medical

accuracy remains critical. As AXA’s health directr nted: “Letting patients make their wn health decisins
shuldn’t mean abandning them t a sea f misleading infrmatin.”
8. What is Paragraph 2 mainly abut?
A. Mst f the self-diagnsis invlve cmmn diseases.
B. The 24-year-ld participant regretted self-diagnsing.
C. Self-diagnsis f mental illnesses are nt recmmended.
D. TikTk symptm checklists cntributed t self-diagnsis.

A. Technical errrs. B. Staff shrtages.
C. Public cmplaints. D. Accumulated tasks.
10. What des AXA’s reprt suggest abut cnflicting nline advice?
A Qualifying nline healthcare prfessinals.
B. Establishing trustwrthy nline health system.
C. Banning health-related cntent n scial platfrms.
D. Warning healthcare prfessinals f the misinfrmatin.
11. What can be inferred frm the last Paragraph?
A. It is urgent t prvide accurate and handy nline diagnsis.
B. Digital diagnstic systems will replace traditinal evaluatins.
C. It is vital t ffer mre financial supprt fr healthcare system.
D. Scial media platfrms shuld stp prviding healthcare advice.

Picture a rbt. What d yu see? A metal machine built t last frever? Unfrtunately, this very quality nw
threatens t drwn the planet in extremely durable (持久的) e-waste. What if, instead, thse machines were
designed t break dwn and disappear — like life des? In a new study, researchers crafted a rbtic arm, and a
cntrller t perate it, frm prk gelatin (明胶) and plant cellulse (纤维素) — materials strng enugh t
functin yet delicate enugh t degrade (降解) in the sil. After testing, bth structures brke dwn in sil within
weeks.
Bidegradable rbtics ften falls under the umbrella f sft rbtics. The field riginated frm materials
science and chemistry rather than cnventinal rbts that cme frm mechanical engineering. But a lt f early
第 6页/共 17页
sft rbts still relied n chemical materials that cntinue t exist as pllutin.
Pingdng Wei, a materials scientist at Westlake University in Hangzhu, teamed up with his friend Zhuang
Zhang, a rbtics engineer nw at Fudan University in Shanghai, t assemble (组装) rbts fr the study. They
started with cellulse layers frm cttn, then added glycerl fr flexibility and dried the layers fr strength.
“Cellulse is als cheap and easy t assemble,” Wei says. T build sensrs, the researchers used a cnductive
gelatin frm prk. They then flded the layers and sensrs int 3D structures.
Wei and Zhang fund the cntrller and rbtic arm std up t bth heavy use and a week f inactivity.
Finally, they buried them bth in a 20-centimeter-deep hle near their campus. Within eight weeks the machines
were almst entirely gne.
Wei and Zhang envisin rbts like these handling dangerus waste and then disappearing they als prpse
rbts that aid surgeries and then safely break dwn inside the bdy. But it’s imprtant t nte that the technlgy
is in very early stages.
“If we truly want t have a sustainable rbt that ges utside in nature,” a materials scientist Flrian
Hartmann says, “we als need t think f electrnics r pwer supplies, r even batteries, that are bidegradable.”
12. What d we knw abut early sft rbts?
A. They are made f natural materials.
B. They are t delicate fr heavy use.
C. They will prduce e-waste pllutin.
D. They cme frm mechanical engineering.
13. Why did Wei and Zhang bury the cntrller and rbtic arm?
A. T check their durability.
B. T mnitr their effect n sil.
C. T see if they can wrk in sil.
D. T test if they can break dwn.
14. Which f the fllwing best describes the rbts in the new study?
A. Cstly. B. Ec-friendly.
C. Safe t use. D. Easy t perate.

A. The necessity fr sustainable rbts.
B. The ptential applicatins f sft rbts.

I’ve recently becme interested in muntain climbing. It’s mainly due t my friend Tim, an experienced hiker.
Initially, I saw hiking as pintless — exhausting muscles under the burning sun, carrying heavy lads, with n
easy way back. Why endure (忍受) that?
Last mnth, Tim cnvinced me t jin him in climbing a small hill. T my surprise, the view frm the tp was
breathtaking. I witnessed an amazing sunset ver the sea. That humble peak ffered unexpected jy, awakening a
desire fr mre — clud seas, sunrises, and bird’s-eye views. After a few mre muntain climbing attempts, I
declared, “I will challenge the Her’s Rute!” It was a demanding 20-kilmeter trail (小径) acrss several high
peaks, a test f “heres.”
But Tim tried t cl me dwn. “It’s nt easy,” he warned. “It requires training, nt just enthusiasm.” But I
believed “Nthing is impssible in frnt f a willing heart,” s the fllwing weekend I set ff alne withut telling
Tim. I decided t give him a big surprise.
At the ft f the muntain, I saw sme grups f climbers with walkie-talkies. I laughed — real heres
jurney alne. The first peak was rewarding, with cl winds and glimpses f the sea. But as I pushed nward, the
trail turned wild and rugged. Steep rcks frced me t crawl n all furs. The sky darkened, threatening rain.
Tiredness set in, and the ther climbers had all vertaken me, leaving me cmpletely alne. The trail seemed
endless. Rain sn pured and I was wet thrugh. The rcks became slippery, making every step a struggle. T
make matters wrse, my phne had n signal. Desperatin munted in me.
Arund 5:30 PM, there were still tw peaks ahead. Exhausted and having barely prgressed, I fund a weak
signal n my phne and hurriedly called Tim. He was shcked, but after checking my lcatin, he calmly gave me
