Darrell Blatchley, a marine bilgist and envirnmentalist based in the Philippine city f Dava, received a call frm the Philippines, Bureau f Fisheries and Aquatic Resurces(渔业与水产资源局) early Friday mrning reprting a death f a yung whale.
When the necrpsy(尸检) was perfrmed, Blatchley tld NPR, he was nt prepared fr the amunt f plastic they fund in the whale’s stmach. “It was full f plastic nthing but nnstp plastic.” he said. “It was filled t the pint that its stmach was as hard as a baseball. That means that this animal has been suffering nt fr days r weeks but fr mnths r even a year r mre,” Blatchley added.
Blatchley is the funder and wner f the D’Bne Cllectr Museum, a natural histry museum in Dava. In the cming days, the museum will display all the items fund in the whale’s system. They fund that higher levels f anger were assciated with inflammatin and ill health in the ldest participants(aged 80 and abve), but nt the yungest nes (59-79 years). Sadness was nt assciated with inflammatin r ill health in either age grup.
