Street art is always smething I lk ut fr when I travel. At the very beginning, street art was a means t share scial cmments r plitical ideas, but nw it’s increasingly used in many places arund the wrld t beautify the envirnment, smetimes becming ppular turist attractins. Here’s my cllectin f street art arund the wrld.
      Amsterdam, the Netherlands
My hmetwn has plenty f fantastic street art. Yu can find sme cl pieces in the Jrdan neighbrhd and in the Nrth and West parts f the city. One place yu abslutely have t visit in Amsterdam is the STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam Nrth. This museum huses huge murals created by artists frm arund the wrld in an ld industrial warehuse, and is a rich additin t the Amsterdam street art scene.
      Bristl, United Kingdm
The birthplace f Banksy, ne f the wrld’s mst famus street artists, Bristl is anther f the wrld’s great street art cities. Yu can find street art acrss the city n buildings, streets and bridges. The annual Upfest, in the Bedminster suburb, during which artists frm arund the wrld are invited t create street art n huses and buildings, is a ppular attractin.
      Ri de Janeir, Brazil
Ri de Janeir als has a fantastic street art scene. Fr the 2016 Olympic Games, the city invited famus Brazilian street artist, Kbra, t create the wrld’s biggest mural alng the Olympic Bulevard. The result is simply amazing! Click here t see street art in Ri de Janeir, r my phts f Ri de Janeir.

I wrk at Pearsn, the largest and busiest airprt in Canada. I am ne f the faces f Trnt that welcme millins f air travellers frm all ver the wrld. My daily wrk is helping cnnecting (转乘) passengers, fr example, answering their questins abut the barding gate r departure time. After a lng nn-stp flight, these passengers are tired and hungry. They need cffee, breakfast and a lunge (候机室) instead f cnfusin as they wait anxiusly t get their luggage and bard their next flights. My jb is t keep them calm and infrmed.
Emtins can run high and the lunge is like a pressure cker. Of curse, cnnecting passengers dn’t want t miss their flights. They are usually in a hurry. They are stressed ut. Yu see, a lt f them are travelling fr pleasure and ging t places like Miami Beach and Yellwstne Park. But nw they are ut f breath and sweating. Sme shut angrily, sme are even in tears. They dn’t seem t be having any fun at all.
That is when it is time fr empathy. We put urselves in the passengers’ shes and help them as much as we can. If we see the elderly trying t catch their planes but walking at a snail’s pace, we find a wheelchair fr them immediately. When a plane is leaving in 15 minutes and the dr is clsing, what else can we suggest but: “Run! Run!” A few times, I have run with passengers t their barding gate. It’s a race against time.
Since passengers are just passing thrugh, ur interactins are brief. I say “Ni ha” t the Chinese and “Hla” t the Spanish. A simple greeting in their mther tngue can guarantee a smile frm a ttal stranger and a tired traveller. Once, a yung wman, wh was n her way t visit her family in Suth Africa, tld me she was expecting her first baby. I ffered my cngratulatins and gd luck.
T all, I wish a pleasant trip, t grups ff fr a family wedding in Singapre, t senirs travelling t Rme fr hliday, t children ff t Disney Wrld in Orland... the airprt is nt a dull place. All kinds f human emtins are n display: sad, happy, anxius and upset. Smetimes I think n matter where we cme frm, what clr ur eyes, hair and skin, we are here t shw ur understanding and help. We are family.
      39. What des the authr’s jb invlve?

Olympic athletes pur everything int training fr the Games, rutinely pushing their physical and mental limits — and beynd — fr a sht at a gld medal. But getting int shape fr what cmes after the clsing ceremny can be equally imprtant, especially if the end f the Games als means the end f prfessinal cmpetitin. Team USA rwer Kate Knightn, a first-time Olympian at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, understands the mental stress that a sudden exit frm the highest levels f cmpetitive life can bring. In 2022 she experienced a near career-ending spine (脊椎) injury. Many studies have fund that tp athletes — prfessinal, cllege and Olympic — ften face a range f shrt- and lng-term mental health issues, including exhaustin, eating issues, anxiety and depressin.
Emtins are heightened by the nature f the event itself. The Olympics is a massive cultural event —a cmbinatin f glbal public attentin, financial investment and media cverage. Athletes are under the pressure f winning medals fr the natin in frnt f wrldwide audience. “But then all f that publicity and tensin arund being an Olympian falls ff very quickly,” says Cgan, a lead sprt psychlgist. Painful decisins can fllw: D I want t keep cmpeting? Shuld I pursue a cmpletely different directin r career? Such questins can be even mre anxiety-causing if athletes have injuries and need surgery, Cgan says. It’s mre abut making a map f hw t get t a destinatin. Once yu get there, it’s like. “Nw what?”
A 2023 paper explained the identity crises athletes face as a result f verfcus n perfrmance, leaving their nn-sprting persnalities underdevelped. In a 2018 paper, Hwells wrte that athletes with a greater shrt-sighted fcus are mre at risk f the “blues”. “They’ve sacrificed (牺牲) every ther aspect f their identity fr the purpse f being an Olympian. They seem unable t realize that their actins might have negative cnsequences in the future.”
Effrts t minimize this mindset have helped sme athletes t pen up mre abut their mental health. Experts advise Olympians t start cnversatins abut mental health supprt well befre the Games begin. Olympians shuld als discuss mental health mnitring strategies befre, during and after the Games. Athletes and experts say the sprting industry has, in the last decade, been prmting better wrk-life balance utside f the game, which they think is the key t dealing with the issue. Briana, a sccer galkeeper, says that her team and caches actively encurage spending quality time with families and significant thers, as well as finding hbbies that feel jyful and rewarding.
      43. Why des the authr refer t Team USA rwer Kate Knightn in the first paragraph?
      A. T prve Olympic athletes are challenging their limits.
      B. T suggest the end f the Games means a new start in life.
      C. T shw Olympic athletes devte themselves t winning medals.
      D. T indicate mental stress is very cmmn amng Olympic athletes.
      44. What is the main cause f Olympic athletes’ mental health issues?
      A. A sense f lss. B. The media cverage.
      C. The audience’s attentin.D. The pressure f cmpetitin.
      45. What’s the mst imprtant slutin t the athletes’ mental health issue accrding t paragraphs 3-4?

      D. Frm Her t Zer: the Pst-Olympic “Blues”

Why des scial media cause feelings f lneliness and lack f cnfidence? Because instead f being real life, it is impressin management, a way f marketing yurself, carefully chsing and filtering (过滤) the picture and wrds t put yur best face frward.
Online “friends” made thrugh scial media d nt fllw the nrmal psychlgical prgressin f friendship. Yu share neither physical time nr emtinal cnversatins ver the Internet. Yu simply cmmunicate phtgraphs and catchy psts t a diverse grup f peple whm yu have “friended” r “fllwed” based n an accidental cmmunicatin. This is nt t say that yur scial media friends can’t be real friends. They abslutely can, but the tw are nt the same. Generally speaking, there are n unfiltered phts n ur scial media pages because it wuldn’t feel safe t be cmpletely authentic (真实的) and we wuld be vulnerable (易受伤的) with sme f ur “friends” with whm trust has yet t be built.
Scial media can certainly be an escape frm the daily rutines, but we must be cautius abut the negative effects n a persn’s psychlgical well-being.
As humans, we are eager fr scial cnnectin. Scrlling (滚动) thrugh pages f pictures and cmments, hwever, des nt prvide the same degree f cntent as face-t-face cmmunicatins d. Als, we tend t idealize thers’ lives and cmpare ur failures t their greatest achievements, ending in feelings f lneliness and lack f cnfidence.
Scial media can lead t unhealthy pursuit fr perfectin. Sme peple begin t attend certain events r travel t different places s that they can sht that “perfect” pht. Hwever, pictures and psts shuld be byprducts f life’s treasured mments and fun times, nt the planned and calculated image that ne is putting ut int cyberspace in an attempt t fill insecurities r unmet needs.
In cnclusin, scial media has increased ur ability t cnnect with varius types f peple all ver the glbe. It has pened drs fr business and allwed us t stay cnnected t peple whm we may nt therwise get t fllw. Hwever, scial media shuld feel like a fun experience, nt ne that cntributes t negative thughts and feelings. If the latter (后者) is the case, increasing face t face time with trusted friends and minimizing time scrlling nline will prve t be a reminder that yur real scial netwrk is much mre rewarding than any “like”, “fllw” r “share” can be.
      47. Hw des scial media affect ur life ?
      A. It may imprve ur physical appearance. B. It may make us feel lnely and insecure.
      C. It may filter ur negative impressins n thers.D. It may enhance ur cmmunicatin skills.
      48. Why d peple always pst filtered phts n scial media?
      A. They d nt want t lse their fllwers. B. They are eager t becme famus vernight.
      C. They d nt find all their nline friends trustwrthy. D. They want t avid ffending any f their audience.
      49. What d humans tend t d n scial media accrding t paragraph 4?
      A. Have mre face-t-face cmmunicatins. B. Exaggerate (夸大) their wn achievements.
      C. Learn lessns frm ther peple’s failures.D. Paint a rsy picture f ther peple’s lives.
      50. What des the authr advise when nline experience becmes unpleasant in the last paragraph?
      A. Stay cnnected t nline friends fr suggestins.
      B. Strengthen ties with real-life friends instead f nline friends.
      C. Cnnect with varius types f peple all ver the glbe.
