The thught f speaking in frnt f strangers made my heart race, and I culd hardly hld the frm firmly because my hands were wet. Suddenly a clear vice called my name. When I heard it, my hands shk a little and I nearly 13 the frm.
The drama club bth was full f peple and it felt busy. Psters f past plays lined the table, and a lt f well - wrn scripts (剧本) sat beside a half - empty bx f “Drama Club Family” stickers. Mia, the club president wh’d played the lead in The Little Prince, was busy helping nervus applicants (应试者) practice their lines. Her easy cnfidence nly increased my anxiety, and I stepped frward little by little. Then I suddenly felt really scared, s I quickly 14 int the crwd, hping t fit in with nlkers. But she’d already fund me. “Yu’ve stayed here since the fair started!” she said, waving me ver. My thrat tightened as I mved frward. She handed me a thin script. “Just tw lines. The club waited while I tried t 17 up the curage t cme back.” She sat beside me and said, “Read this like we’re talking alne.” We practiced five times, her guidance cntrlling my vice.
When I finished, she grinned and said, “Yu’ve gt s much 18 , s there is n need t hld yurself back.” The next day, I arrived early. A new student stayed nearby, hlding his frm like a lifeline, exactly as I’d lked. I walked ver, handing him Mia’s ld script. “Start with this,” I said. “This is hw I fund my 19 .” He ndded and began reading.
A week later, I watched him deliver lines calmly. Mia caught my eye and winked — a gesture I’d seen ur drama teacher give her last year. Suddenly, it hit me that curage isn’t just fund within, but it’s passed n. In that mment, I knew I’d fund a place where that curage culd keep 20 . It was built by ne nervus smile and ne well - lved script at a time.

Last term, ur class started a Strytelling Prject where each student had t share a persnal stry in English. I chse t talk abut my experience f learning t ride a bike and I spent many nights practicing alud t make sure I wuldn’t frget the lines.
When my turn came, I std in frnt f the class and my vice shk a little. The first part went smthly and I started t describe the mment I fell ff the bike. I mentined hw I was injured and hw I held back my tears. Just then, Mr. Chen, suddenly interrupted me. He said, “N! Yu’re speaking t fast, and it’s hard fr everyne t feel yur emtins. Try t slw dwn here, and pause fr tw secnds after saying yu held back yur tears.” I frze, my face turning red, but I quickly ndded and I tried t slw dwn. But after tw mre sentences, I accidentally rushed again. Mr. Chen stpped me just like he did the first time. I felt s embarrassed that I aplgized quietly and hurried back t my seat.
Next was Xia Yu, a quiet girl wh usually sat silently in the back rw. As sn as she started talking abut her grandmther’s garden, Mr. Chen stpped her and said, “N! Yur vice is t sft.”
T my surprise, Xia Yu didn't give up. She tk a deep breath, lifted her head, and started again. This time she talked with a clear, steady vice. Even if she paused t think, she kept ging until she finished. "Well dne, Xia Yu," Mr. Chen said with a smile.
After class, I asked her why she didn't give up when the teacher criticized (批评) her?" She answered, "My grandmther always says a small setback desn't mean yu've failed." Her wrds stuck with me that night. I recrded my stry, fund parts where I needed t slw dwn, and marked pauses carefully. I even asked my mther t listen and tell me when I sunded rushed.
A week later, when Mr. Chen asked if anyne wanted t try again, I raised my hand. This time, whenever I felt nervus, I remembered Xia Yu's grandmther's wrds. I spke slwly, stumbled nce but quickly recvered, and kept ging. At the end f the presentatin, the class clapped, and Mr. Chen ndded t shw satisfactin. I hadn't just finished the stry and I'd learned t keep trying even when thers say "N!"

If yu've ever had t cut shrt a backyard dinner because f buzzing msquites (蚊子) r wrried abut yurself getting bitten while playing at the cmmunity park, yu knw hw annying these little insects can be. Wrse than that, msquites carry diseases like dengue fever (登革热). This prblem has becme a bigger prblem in parts f China lately, especially as cities grw and the
weather changes. Fr years, we've used chemical sprays (喷雾) t kill them, but thse ften d mre harm than gd. They pllute the water in the park's small pnd, and what's wrse, they make bees sick, which is a prblem because we need bees t help flwers and vegetables grw. That's why scientists came up with the smart "msquit vs msquit" plan. It wrked and kept ur neighbrhds safe fr everyne while building a greener living envirnment.
The start f this plan is a special "msquit factry" in Guangzhu's Huangpu district. When it's running at its busiest, it can prduce 5 millin male msquites every week, all f which have a small but imprtant change t their genes. Each f these males has a type f bacteria called Wlbachia (沃尔巴克氏菌), and here's the gd part: they're ttally harmless t us. Unlike female msquites (the nes that bite yu fr bld), males dn't need bld at all. S hw d they help? When these lab - raised males mate with wild females that dn't have Wlbachia, a bilgical mismatch causes the eggs they lay t fail t develp int baby msquites.
But the plan desn't stp there. Scientists als use anther helper, which is a type f big, pretty msquites called Txrhynchites splendens (华丽巨蚊). Nt lng ag, researchers frm Sun Yat - sen University let 75 f these msquites be freed in Fshan's cmmunity parks, the same places where families might walk the dg r kids might chase butterflies. These big msquites are natural enemies f the Aedes albpictus msquites (the nes that spread diseases). Their larvae can cntrl harmful msquites because their babies live in the same small pls f water that harmful msquites lve. S peple shuld empty the water frm flwer pts r ld plastic bttles left in the grass. As there's less water fr harmful msquites t lay eggs in, the harmful msquit larvae (幼虫) get crwded int the few pls that remain. This makes it easy fr the giant msquit larvae t eat 80 - 100 f them as they grw. Best f all, adult giant msquites nly feed n plant sap and flwer nectar and they wn't truble peple r pets at all.
Early results are prmising. In ne small village in Guangzhu, using just the lab - raised males kept dengue fever away fr seven years straight. Hwever, getting this t wrk in big cities isn't easy. Fr ne thing, the factry csts a lt t run. Fr anther, sme peple in neighbrhds dn't fully understand the plan. Once, a few residents pured ut the water frm their flwer pts (where the big msquit babies were living), which killed the big msquit babies, because they didn't knw thse babies were actually helping cntrl the bad msquites. Thse baby msquites are a small but imprtant part f prtecting the cmmunity envirnment.
Even with these small prblems, scientists think this "msquit vs msquit" plan is the way t g. They say we shuld use bth methds tgether t keep msquit numbers dwn fr a lng time withut messing up the envirnment. "We're nt fighting nature here," a lead researcher said. "We're wrking with it t make the places we live, wrk, and play safer." The gal is t slve prblems nt just fr nw, but in a way that keeps ur neighbrhds green and healthy fr years t cme. This is exactly what we need t d t build a better living space fr everyne.
27. What can we learn abut the lab - raised male msquites frm Paragraph 2?
A. They have passed safety tests and safe t release in cmmunities.
B. They are the same as wild msquites except fr carrying Wlbachia.
C. They are raised in large numbers t bite and kill wild female msquites.
D. They will die after mating with wild female msquites.
28. What can we infer abut the "msquit vs msquit" plan frm Paragraph 4?
A. It is nt as effective as using chemical sprays.
B. It needs a lt f mney and help frm lcal peple.
C. It is nly suitable fr large cities like Fshan.
D. It will be widely used in China in the near future.
29. What can we learn frm the passage?
A. The "msquit vs msquit" plan is nw being widely used in Fshan.
B. The big, pretty msquites can eat 80 t 100 harmful larvae in their whle life
C. The "msquit vs msquit" plan is a greener way t cntrl msquites than chemical sprays.
D. The lab - raised msquites will finally reduce the number f wild msquites in Fshan.

Have yu ever wndered why sme teams wrk s well tgether while thers struggle (努力争取) t reach agreements? A recent study led by researchers frm Kei University in Japan might hld the key t this questin. It shws that when peple wrk clsely tgether n a shared task, their brains actually "sync up". This fascinating discvery belngs t the field f secnd - persn neurscience, a new area fcusing n hw tw peple's brains wrk tgether during scial activities. T carry ut this research, scientists used a technlgy called hyper - scanning (超扫描技术), which recrds the brain activity f multiple peple at the same time and cmpares their brain reactins.
The experiment invlved 78 participants, divided int 39 pairs. Each pair faced a creative challenge: designing and furnishing a unique digital rm within a specially develped cmputer game. They culd wrk tgether withut strict time limits and were asked t use minimal verbal (最低限度的言语) cmmunicatin. allwing researchers t fcus n nn - verbal interactins. Additinally, each participant cmpleted the same task alne n a separate ccasin, helping researchers cmpare and study brain activity differences between sl and grup wrk. During the experiment, researchers nt nly videtaped each pair’s wrk prcess but als had every participant wear special headgear. This headgear is a special tl fr the research, which helps researchers t get crrect results and t mnitr their brain neurns (神经元). The brain neurns are basic cells that transmit and prcess infrmatin in the human brain.
The headgear cntinuusly tracked hw neurns reacted when participants discussed ideas r made decisins, while the vides recrded hw ften and hw lng each pair made eye cntact. After cllecting all data, researchers presented their findings in a detailed chart, shwing a clear crrelatin (相关性) between eye cntact duratin (时长) and brain synchrnizatin levels. The results were surprising. When wrking in pairs, specific grups f neurns in ne persn’s brain wuld activate, and almst the same grup wuld becme active in their partner’s brain. Yasuy Minagawa, the lead researcher, described this rare cupling as “tw brains functining as a single, crdinated system.”
This special neural cupling, called “between - brain synchrnizatin,” became significantly strnger when bth participants lked directly at each ther, leading the team t cnclude that mutual (相互的) eye cntact plays a key rle in imprving understanding f each ther’s hidden intentins and true emtins. Minagawa als nted that this finding fits with the well - knwn “we mde” ( “我们模式” ) phenmenn, where tw peple wrking tgether seem t “share a mind” and react t situatins similarly. Lking ahead, the research team plans t further explre hw ther cmmn scial interactins, such as face - t - face cnversatins and small facial expressins, influence brain functin. They hpe future studies will uncver mre secrets abut hw human cnnectins shape and even change ur neural activity patterns.
30. Why did the researcher team ask participants nt t talk t much during the experiment?
A. T study hw unspken signals help peple wrk as a team successfully.
B. T prevent different languages frm getting in the way f their wrk.
C. T challenge the participants’ ability t slve prblems under great pressure.
D. T prve that nt speaking is a better way t cmmunicate than talking.
31. What can we infer abut "secnd - persn neurscience" frm the passage?
A. It has replaced traditinal brain research methds.
B. It studies the cmmunicatin between peple instead f single brains.
C. It is a new field with n practical uses nw.
D. It can nly be carried ut by hyper - scanning technlgy.
32. What des the underlined wrd "synchrnizatin" in Paragraph 3 prbably mean?
A. SeparatinB. DifferenceC. IndependenceD. Cnnectin
33. Which f the fllwing wuld be the best title fr the passage?
A. Hw a Brain Experiment Helps Imprve Teamwrk
B. Eye cntact Alne makes Teams Mre successful
C. A Study: Team Understanding Imprves When Peple Really Lk at Each Other
D. Secnd - persn Neurscience Explains Hw Team Brains Wrk Tgether

四、阅读表达 (共10分)
Pre - made meals r "ready - t - eat" dishes have quietly becme a cmmn part f daily life fr many students and families. A recent survey by the China Cnsumer Assciatin fund that ver 60% f meals rdered thrugh majr fd delivery apps like Meituan and Ele.me are actually pre - made in central kitchens. These meals are then reheated and served t custmers. This includes everything frm the ppular braised prk ribs t the seemingly "freshly stir - fried" vegetables that many students enjy after a lng day at schl.
As we all knw, cking thse tasty dishes usually needs much time and energy, s it's easy t understand hw cnvenient pre - made meals are. Fr students rushing between classes, extracurricular activities and hmewrk, r families with bth parents wrking full - time, a ht meal delivered in 30 minutes can be a great help. Hwever, this cnvenience cmes with hidden risks that many peple are unaware f. Nutritin experts frm the Chinese Nutritin Sciety pint ut that reheating fd can destry essential vitamins like vitamin C and B. Additinally, a 2024 analysis by the Beijing Fd Safety Inspectin Institute fund that sme pre - made meals include high levels f salt and fd additives t extend their shelf life, which can be harmful if cnsumed regularly.
At hme, the situatin is similar. Frzen dumplings, pre - cked ndles, and micrwaveable rice bwls fill supermarket freezers, ffering quick slutins fr busy weeknights. While these
prducts save time, they are ften shrt f the freshness and nutritinal value f hme - cked meals. A study cnducted by Peking University's Schl f Public Health shwed that children wh regularly eat frzen pre - made meals have a 20% higher risk f develping diet - related prblems cmpared t thse wh eat freshly cked fd.
T address these cncerns, sme frward - thinking brands have started t make changes. Fr example, Meituan, a majr fd delivery platfrm in China, nw allws custmers t chse t see nly "freshly cked" meals in search results, giving peple mre cntrl ver their fd chices. The platfrm reprted that within six mnths f starting this service, 35% f its student users had started using it regularly. Anther brand, HellFresh, has begun t clearly label the nutritinal infrmatin and ingredient lists n their pre - made prducts, helping cnsumers make mre infrmed decisins.
As pre - made meals becme mre ppular, it's imprtant fr cnsumers, especially yung peple, t be mindful f their chices. Learning t read fd labels carefully, chsing dishes with fewer additives, and trying t balance cnvenience with health can help everyne enjy the benefits f pre - made meals withut lsing their health. Fr students, this might mean ccasinally chsing a freshly cked meal ver takeut, r helping parents prepare simple hme - cked dishes n weekends. By making small, careful chices, we can ensure that cnvenience desn't cme at the risk f ur health.
34. What percentage f takeut meals are pre - made accrding t the survey by the China Cnsumer Assciatin?
35. Why are pre - made meals ppular amng busy students and families?
36. What are the disadvantages f pre - made meals?
37. Which wuld yu like t chse, pre - made meals r freshly cked meals? Why? (Give at least tw reasns)
