addicted t the bird kingdm,” Ge said, adding that he has s far visited the island mre than 200 times t take phts.
In late 1997, Ge was n his way t the island t take phts f swans when he saw seven
yellwish-brwn animals running acrss the grass-lands, in a line. On hearing ne f his

Have yu ever jyusly stepped ut t yur backyard garden, nly t find yur carefully cared- fr plants and herbs dying? Was the sil t dry? Did harmful insects find their way in?
During times like these, sme helpless gardeners may wish their plants wuld just tell them what they need. A new Micrsft- partnered prject in the UK is trying t see if that idea can be
realized in the real- wrld.
Next year, the Ryal Hrticultural Sciety in England will shw ff an “intelligent garden” that uses an AI mdel t mnitr the garden’s envirnment and infrm gardeners when it needs
care. Visitrs can ask the AI-pwered garden questins. The mdel culd then respnd with
sentences like “I need a bit mre water,” r “I culd use a haircut” depending n data captured in the sil. In additin t chatting with plants, the garden will shw visitrs hw AI can help advance sustainability and prtectin effrts.
When the garden is cmpleted, it will rely n varius sensrs (感应器) thrughut the
garden measuring envirnmental factrs like sil misture (湿度) and nutrient levels as well as
wind and rainfall. All f that data is then sent t a specially designed AI mdel which is in a rm at the back f the garden. The mdel, pwered by Micrsft’s Azure Open AI Service, can then
analyze thse factrs and infrm gardeners n feeding, watering and s n.
Tm Massey, ne f the garden’s tw designers, described the prject as a “unique

B .They can use the AI mdel t design their wn gardens.
C .They can adjust the envirnment f the garden freely.
D .They can cmmunicate with the AI-pwered garden.
10 .What’s the main idea f the third paragraph?
A .The data cllected by AI in the garden.
B .The lcatin f the AI mdel in the garden.
C .The prcess f hw the garden wrks.
D .The functins f the sensrs in the garden.
11 .What’s Tm Massey’s attitude twards the prject?
A .Psitive. B .Neutral. C .Negative. D .Indifferent.

Parents nce shuted, “Dn’t get dirty!”, as they angrily watched their children spil their best clthes, their whites turning int brwn befre the day was ver.
Tday, many parents may secretly wish their children had the chance t pick up a bit f
dirt. With the rise f urbanism (城市化), and exciting vide games and scial media, cntact with nature is much rarer than in the past. Fr many, there is simply n chance t get muddy Accrding t recent research, the dirt utside is teaming with friendly micrrganisms that
can train the immune system and build resistance (抵抗力) t many illnesses, including allergies, asthma and even depressin and anxiety.
These findings shw that utdr exercise is nt nly beneficial because f the chance t wander free — but that certain natural materials, such as sil and mud, als cntain surprisingly pwerful micrrganisms whse psitive impact n children’s health we are nly beginning t
fully understand. Outdr play can als ffer valuable learning experiences. Fr example, the act f playing mud r sand can help children develp the way their senses and mvement interact.
Such activities — away frm the huse r classrm— may als help children t find ways t deal with emtins that may be hard t explre in ther envirnments. S-called “sand tray
therapy”, which invlves using sand and small statues t express ne’s thughts and feelings, is an accepted frm f guidance fr children wh are struggling t express their emtinal state.
Clearly, peple wh spent mst their childhd in the cuntryside tend t shw a better
respnse t stressful events like public speaking cmpared with thse wh had grwn up in cities. “The peple wh grew up in cities are kind f ‘walking time bmbs’ when facing the stress we
meet tday. Hwever, peple since childhd wh spent lts f time in nature are generally mre psitive.” says Christpher Lwry, a prfessr f integrative physilgy.
12 .Hw des the authr intrduce the tpic?
A .By prviding a research. B .By giving a definitin.
C .By making a cmparisn. D .By answering a questin.
13 .Which f the fllwing is NOT the benefit f utdr exercise?
A .Imprving the immune system. B .Expressing emtins in prper ways.
C .Gaining valuable learning experiences. D .Teaming with friendly micrrganisms.
14 .Why are sme peple “walking time bmbs”?
A .Because they are harmful t the public. B .Because they are gd at public speaking.
C .Because they are mre easily hurt by stress. D .Because they always stay psitive and energetic.
15 .What message des the passage mainly cnvey?
A .Getting dirty?—Muddy puddles are actually gd.
B .Outdr activities are far mre ppular than befre.

故填 thrugh/thrughut。

Last summer, I signed up fr a park cleanup rganized by a lcal
envirnmental grup called Green Earth.

tear 有“破裂” 之意,且此处需过去式,所以第三空填 tre ;根据第二段“I felt angry and disappinted, thinking all my hard wrk was ruined. )”,第四空用名词形式 disappintment;第五空表示“被毁掉”,用一般过去时的被动语态 was ruined;根据第三段“Seeking shelter under a tree, I watched ther vlunteers hurry t nearby buildings. 可知,第六空填 shelter;根据第三段“and my wet clthes felt heavy and uncmfrtable. )”可知,第七空填 uncmfrtable;根据第三段“The happy energy I felt earlier was gne. paths turned int slippery mud, and my trash bag suddenly brke, spilling all the garbage I had

Heavy rain started puring dwn, the dirt paths turned int slippery mud, his trash bag brke and spilled all the garbage, cld water saked thrugh his shes and the wind blew hard.
根据文章第四段“Just then, I nticed an elderly man standing far acrss the field. He was alne in the rain, carefully tying his brken trash bag with a piece f rpe. His mvements were slw but steady. Instead f giving up, he kept picking up litter, ne piece at a time. Even

The authr was inspired by the ld man's actin. He wuld fllw the ld man and cntinue t pick up litter.
根据文章第四段“Just then, I nticed an elderly man standing far acrss the field. He was alne in the rain, carefully tying his brken trash bag with a piece f rpe. His mvements were slw but steady. Instead f giving up, he kept picking up litter, ne piece at a time. Even
