Mre than 200 kilmeters ff Nrway’s cast in the Nrth Sea sits the wrld’s first ffshre carbn capture (捕获) and strage prject. Set up in 1996, the Sleipner prject remves CO2 frm natural gas t make it marketable. But instead f releasing (释放) the CO2 int the atmsphere, peple bury this greenhuse gas undergrund. This prject stres arund 1 millin metric tns f CO2 per year and is praised by many as a pineering success in glbal attempts t cut dwn greenhuse gas emissins.
Gradually stpping using fssil fuels is the key t reducing emissins and dealing with climate change. Hwever, a set f technlgies called carbn capture, utilizatin and strage (CCUS) is able t help achieve the wrld’s gals: cutting CO2 emissins by 50% by 2030 and reaching net-zer emissins by 2050. These technlgies can capture, use r stre the CO2 prduced by pwer plants r industrial activities, r take it directly frm the air. The Intergvernmental Panel n Climate Change, a UN rganizatin respnsible fr assessing climate change science, lists CCUS as ne f the necessary ways t cut dwn emissins and meet temperature cntrl gals.
      Carbn Capture, Utilizatin and Strage
CCUS technlgies ften capture CO2 frm cal r natural gas pwer generatin r industrial prcesses, such as steel manufacturing. The CO2 is cmpressed (压缩) int a liquid under high pressure s that it can be easily transprted thrugh pipelines t sites where it may be stred r used fr ther purpses.
      21. What can we learn abut the Sleipner prject?
      A. It takes CO2 ut f natural gas.B. It aims t bury CO2 undergrund.
      C. It prduces natural gas by capturing CO2D. It has stred 1 millin metric tns f CO2 since 1996.
      22. What can be inferred frm the picture?
      A. The primary functin f CO2.B. The limitatin f the CCUS.
      C. The whle prcess f treating CO2D. The perating csts f the CCUS.
      23. Why is CO2 cmpressed int a liquid accrding t the text?
      A. T enable its release at a higher rate.
      B. T allw it t be mixed with natural gas.
      C. T measure the ttal amunt f the captured CO2.
      D. T make its transprtatin thrugh pipelines easier.
A 22. C 23. D
根据第一段“Set up in 1996, the Sleipner prject remves CO2 frm natural gas t make it marketable.(斯莱普纳项目于1996年启动,其目的是从天然气中去除二氧化碳,从而使其具备市场价值)”可知,Sleipner项目可以从天然气中去除二氧化碳。故选A。
根据最后一段“The CO2 is cmpressed (压缩) int a liquid under high pressure s that it can be easily transprted thrugh pipelines t sites where it may be stred r used fr ther purpses.(二氧化碳在高压环境下被压缩成液体,这样它就能通过管道轻松地输送到可以进行储存或用于其他用途的地点)”可知,将CO2压缩成液体的主要目的是便于通过管道运输。故选D。

When Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard and his family mved t Frederiksberg, a leafy neighbrhd f Cpenhagen, 17 years ag, they had five r six pst bxes within a few minutes’ walking distance. Tday there are nne. They’d been prgressively remved by PstNrd, the state-wned mail service. On December 30th, 2025, PstNrd tk things further: after 400 years, it ended its cllectin and delivery f letters entirely.
Denmark is the first Eurpean cuntry t d s. Over the past 25 years, the vlume f letters has declined by 90%. In 2024 alne it fell 30%, the result f a new law that ended Denmark’s universal service cmmitment (which required pstal cmpanies t make service accessible t everyne at an affrdable price) and pened the market t cmpetitrs. Pstage fr a standard dmestic letter sht up t DKr29 ($4.50), and DKr39 fr next-day delivery. Actually, pst ffices all ver the wrld have seen the vlume f letters cllapse ver the past tw decades.
“The rate f decline f the vlume f letters differs, accrding t the level f digitisatin f a cuntry. In fact, they are far frm bslete,” says Arm en Chalumyan f Cullen Internatinal, a research firm. They still accunt fr a substantial prtin f pstal revenue (收入). Until recently India and Brazil still had rising vlumes f letters because f their grwing middle classes, accrding t the Universal Pstal Unin (UPU).
On the ther hand, services that have integrated resurces and upgraded quality, such as thse in Malta and Prtugal, are generally in better shape than state-run nes. Italy’s Pste Italiane, which has intrduced partial refrms fcusing n the market, has had a gd run under Matte Del Fante, an ex-banker. The prfitable firm prvides banking and insurance services as well as delivering letters and parcels. Pstepay, its pre-paid debit (借记) cards, intrduced in 2003, are a great success with arund 7.2m in use. Germany’s Deutsche Pst DHL grup, a listed cmpany whse biggest sharehlder is Germany’s state-wned develpment bank, is als prfitable, and was vted the wrld’s best pstal service alngside Switzerland in 2024.
      24. Why des the authr mentin Peter and his family?
      A. T shw pst bxes’ cnvenience.B. T illustrate pstal service decline.
      C. T criticize current pstal plicies.D. T explain quick pst bx remval.
      25. What can we say abut Denmark’s end f letter delivery?
      A. It’s a result f multiple factrs.B. It’s based n its digitizatin.
      C. It’s aimed at ther businesses.D. It’s fr the new law’s prmtin.
      26. What des the underlined wrd “bslete” in paragraph 3 mean?
      A. Essential.B. Outdated.C. Prfitable.D. Cnvinced.
      27. What message des the last paragraph cnvey?
      A. Traditinal mail still has a place nwadays.
      B. Credibility hlds the key t develpment.
      C. Ging digital in sme fields is duble-edged.
      D. Diversificatin helps pstal services prsper.
B 25. A 26. B 27. D
根据第一段“When Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard and his family mved t Frederiksberg, a leafy neighbrhd f Cpenhagen, 17 years ag, they had five r six pst bxes within a few minutes’ walking distance. Tday there are nne. They’d been prgressively remved by PstNrd, the state-wned mail service. On December 30th, 2025, PstNrd tk things further: after 400 years, it ended its cllectin and delivery f letters entirely.(17年前,Peter Kurrild-Klitgaard一家搬到哥本哈根绿意盎然的腓特烈斯贝街区,彼时步行几分钟内就有五六只邮筒,如今却踪迹全无。这些邮筒均由丹麦国有邮政运营商PstNrd逐步撤除。2025年12月30日,PstNrd更进一步:历经400年运营后,彻底终止了信件的收寄与投递服务)”可推知,作者讲述Peter和他家人的经历是为了说明邮政服务在衰退。故选B。
【25题详解】细节理解题。根据第二段“Over the past 25 years, the vlume f letters has declined by 90%. In 2024 alne it fell 30%, the result f a new law that ended Denmark’s universal service cmmitment (which required pstal cmpanies t make service accessible t everyne at an affrdable price) and pened the market t cmpetitrs. Pstage fr a standard dmestic letter sht up t DKr29 ($4.50), and DKr39 fr next-day delivery.(过去25年间,信件寄递量降幅达90%。 故选A。
根据第二段“Over the past 25 years, the vlume f letters has declined by 90%.(过去25年间,信件寄递量降幅达90%)”以及第三段“They still accunt fr a substantial prtin f pstal revenue (收入). Until recently India and Brazil still had rising vlumes f letters because f their grwing middle classes, accrding t the Universal Pstal Unin (UPU).(信件业务仍占邮政收入的相当大比例。据万国邮政联盟(UPU)统计,得益于中产阶层持续壮大,印度和巴西的信件寄递量直至近期仍呈增长态势)”可知,信件业务虽然下降,但仍有重要地位,并非完全过时,划线词bslete与utdated“过时的”含义一致。故选B。
【27题详解】推理判断题。根据最后一段“The prfitable firm prvides banking and insurance services as well as delivering letters and parcels. Pstepay, its pre-paid debit (借记) cards, intrduced in 2003, are a great success with arund 7.2m in use. Germany’s Deutsche Pst DHL grup, a listed cmpany whse biggest sharehlder is Germany’s state-wned develpment bank, is als prfitable, and was vted the wrld’s best pstal service alngside Switzerland in 2024.(这家盈利企业除信件与包裹寄递外,还提供银行及保险服务。其于2003年推出的预付借记卡Pstepay大获成功,目前流通量约720万张。德国邮政敦豪集团(Deutsche Pst DHL grup)为上市公司,最大股东是德国国有开发银行,同样实现盈利,且2024年与瑞士邮政一同获评全球最佳邮政服务机构)”可推知,有些邮局进行了自我革新,它们通过提供多种服务进行多元化经营取得了成功。故选D。

After high schl twenty years ag, Maggie Dyne traveled t Surkhet, Nepal, a place where cuntless families left their children withut care. It was there that she met a yung girl whse life had been destryed by misfrtunes. That brught a great change in Dyne. Dyne started t care fr and educate weak children and rphans(孤儿)in the area. Tday, Dyne lives with 93 children, addressing their immediate needs and supprting them fr lng-term grwth.
Starting with a small piece f land that she bught with her babysitting pay, her Kpila Valley Schl, nce a small “bamb cttage”, has nw served 1,000 students with state-f-the-art facilities, mdern technlgy, and varius curse fferings. Students take gardening and farming classes and are prvided with healthy meals. There is an nsite daycare, as well as a jb readiness prgram called “Futures” t help students tward cllege, vcatinal prgrams, and jb training.
“We’ve nw raised a generatin f children,” Dyne said. “They are ut in the wrld as architects, engineers, scial wrkers, teachers, and entrepreneurs.”
Dyne says her gal is t keep families tgether, but when that is nt an ptin, her hme ffers safety, prtectin, and lve t the weak children in the area.
At a speech in Ls Angeles, Dyne cnnected with Pwer Regimbal, a filmmaker wh cared abut humanitarian causes. He started recrding Dyne’s wrk and life stry. United by a shared gal t make a difference, Pwer Regimbal directed and made a film abut Dyne’s wrk, mstly painful.

Our chice t ignre stressful news is necessary t allw us t fcus n what truly matters.
Artists have lng understd the pwer f the vid. The 12th-century pet Saigy nted that the pauses between raindrps were as imprtant as the drps themselves. The famed architect Rem celebrated the usefulness f negative spaces, declaring, “Where there is nthing, everything is pssible.”
The universe wn’t d anything fr us except give us the freedm t exist. It is ur jb t fill the universe with meaning and purpse.

That ur histry fails t leave a mark. That ur cncerns and anxieties are pintless.
根据第三段的“I have spent years wrking t understand what csmic vids teach us. And in the curse f my studies, I have learned t reject that temptatin.(我花费了多年时间去探究宇宙空洞所带给我们的启示。在研究的过程中,我逐渐学会了抵制这种诱惑。)”和第四段中的“Earth is still the nly knwn place in the entire universe where cnscius beings raise their curius eyes t the sky and wnder. Earth is the nly knwn place where humans can exist. It is the nly knwn place where laughter, lve, anger and jy exist. 【34题详解】推理判断题。根据第五段中的“The presence f vids guarantees the ppsite; they create cntrast; they are full f ptential. The pain we feel frm lss is the last reminder f the gift f a life deeply lved. The silence befre a perfrmance is full f electric expectatin.(虚空的存在保证了相反的情况;它们创造对比;它们充满潜力。我们从失去中感受到的痛苦是对深爱的生命礼物的最后提醒。演出前的沉默充满了强烈的期待。)”可推断,第五段的主要目的是分析生活中的空虚如何赋予意义。故选C项。
【35题详解】主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是最后一段中的“It is ur jb t fill the universe with meaning and purpse.(我们的工作是让宇宙充满意义和目的。)”
