I cme t the Spanish city Pamplna t cver the cuntry’s biggest summertime event. The San Fermin Festival, which is held annually frm July 6 — 14. It is a centuries-ld traditin, with recrds dating back t 1591, when the festival was mved frm Octber t July.
The highlight, f curse, is the running f the bulls each mrning. It starts at 8 ’clck, as six bulls dash thrugh the street alng an 875-meter curse. There are abut 2,000 men mstly cmpsed f lcals wh, ver the years, have gained fame as knwledgeable and fearless runners. Knwn as “mzs”, these runners are dressed in white and wear a red scarf and belt t symblize the city’s prtectr Saint Fermin. They run every day f the festival every year t help maintain rder and prtect ther participants.
“While the festival nw draws abut ne millin f partygers frm the wrld, it’s still deeply rted in lcal traditin, mixing religius ceremnies with wild celebratins,” says Pamplna resident, Ramn Mren, wh has been running with the bulls since he was 13. “N ne knws when the running f the bulls began. But it’s been internatinally famus since Ernest Hemingway wrte abut it in his nvel The Sun Als Rises.”

Micrwave vens (微波炉) have lng been widely used in kitchens. Hwever, a small but grwing mvement driven by health risks and fd quality cncerns calls fr a micrwave-free lifestyle. But are the cncerns based n scientific evidence?
“If the micrwaves used in micrwave vens culd damage the fd, then the radi waves frm the husehld Wi-Fi wuld be able t damage all f the fd in the huse in the same way,” says Christpher Baird, a physicist at West Texas A&M University. “Even candlelight has mre micrwaves than micrwave vens. Lgically, peple wuld need t be mre wrried abut candlelight if such claims abut micrwaves were accurate,”
Sme research even favrs micrwaving ver baking, biling and pressure cking methds. One paper recently published in the jurnal Fd Science and Nutritin even fund that Vitamins A and C hld up particularly well in micrwaved fds.
T dispel dubt, Baird explains hw the micrwave ven wrks. “The heart f a micrwave ven lies in its magnetrn tube, which generates the micrwaves. When the micrwaves encunter fd, they speed up the mvement f the water mlecules (分子) within the fd t create heat, r thermal energy, which can effectively warm up the fd. By that way, micrwaves primarily ck fd frm the utside in. Fds with a higher water cntent, such as fresh vegetables, tend t ck mre quickly because micrwaves easily heat water. Unlike ther high-energy surces, such as x-rays which change mlecules and damage cells in rganic matter, micrwaves prduce less energy than even visible light and dn’t alter the mlecules inside the fd and ur bdy.”
Baird acknwledges the existence f rare and islated cases f injury linked t micrwave ven use. “Unless the micrwave ven suffers damage that culd allw micrwaves t escape, there is little reasn fr cncern.”
28. Which is prbably the best way t ck vegetables accrding t the new study?
A. Micrwaving.B. Baking.C. Biling.D. Pressure cking.
29. What des the underlined wrd “dispel” prbably mean?

A. Wi-Fi and candlelight are nt harmful.
B. Micrwave vens can be risky in sme cases.
C. The call fr a micrwave-free lifestyle is unscientific.
D. We shuld nt wrry abut health risks and fd quality.
31. What is the text?
A. An article review.B. A shrt stry.C. A lab test reprt.D. An argumentatin.

Turn t the first page f Kate Hefler’s new bk, The Cuch in the Yard, yu’ll see a small twn at sunset, an ld car in a bed f flwers and a family getting ready fr an adventure. In the backgrund is an abandned cuch. When yu first lk at it, yu may see it as limited r like lacking clr r smething. And then, as yu read thrugh the bk, it starts t becme mre alive and mre clrful.
The biggest challenge, thugh, is illustrating a stry that takes place entirely at night, while keeping the pictures warm and inviting. Seiferling succeeds in taking advantage f the light frm the mn and the car. There’s a pint in the stry where a tire ges flat and the car is stuck. The mn seems t turn ff suddenly, and it gets really, really dark. But there’s still light — the car’s headlights revealing the tall grasses and hpping rabbits.
And then the car takes flight and the family is headed straight fr the mn, where they unpack their cuch and settle in fr sme star watching. It’s a dream-like wrld. That magic nighttime atmsphere gives readers mre space t imagine the pssibilities in verlked bjects.
