First, even bendable electrnics are much stiffer than the rbt’s sft material. “We arranged electrnics like puzzle pieces t fit flexibly,” Cheng explained. Secnd, magnetic fields used fr cntrl can disturb electrnic signals. The team redesigned circuits (电路) t prevent this interference, keeping sensrs accurate near strng magnets.
These imprvements allw rbts t wrk with less human guidance. In rescue missins, they culd find trapped peple by detecting bdy heat. Medical versins might sense chemical changes t deliver drugs exactly where needed. Researchers are develping a pill-sized rbt that patients culd swallw. “It culd examine the digestive system, cllect samples, r treat diseases withut surgery,” said Krean scientist Suk-Wn Hwang, Cheng’s partner.
Future plans include creating tiny rbts fr bld vessel treatments. “Injected int veins, they culd repair heart prblems r target cancer cells,” Cheng described. Thugh unnamed yet, these rbts might get public-suggested names. “That’s a fun idea,” Cheng laughed when asked abut naming pssibilities.
