Brain-cmputer interfaces (BCIs) are digital systems that allw direct cmmunicatin between a brain and an external device. This requires technlgy capable f either accurately reading and interpreting neural signals in a way that preserves human meaning r stimulating apprpriate neural (神经的) pathways t reliably and cnsistently transmit infrmatin.
Nearly all current BCI systems are based n ne-way infrmatin flw between the brain and the device, while ther bilgical systems may be used as feedback. A persn using a BCI t type n a cmputer transmits infrmatin t the cmputer thrugh a direct neural cnnectin, but then uses their eyes t read the utput n the screen as feedback t adjust their typing.
Tw-way brain-cmputer cmmunicatin systems must have the ability t bth read neural signals and stimulate the brain. S this may require multiple devices t wrk at the same time. Regardless f whether infrmatin exchange is ne-way r tw-way, a real-time netwrk must be established t allw dynamic machine-brain interacting.
BCI devices have been used t directly enhance cgnitive (认知的) capabilities and imprve cmmunicatin methds in ways that facilitate learning fr individuals suffering frm varius medical cnditins. Fr patients with severe physical disabilities, BCI devices that facilitate cmmunicatin can imprve functinality in many areas f life, including learning. They allw patients t cntrl the mvement f a cmputer cursr (光标) using thughts. Current technlgy is limited in the speed with which users can type messages, but new devices currently being develped in the private industry may allw users t cmmunicate up t 100 wrds per minute by directly translating imagined thughts t text. These devices culd change learning strategies fr all individuals, nt just thse suffering frm disabilities.
The applicatin f BCI technlgy fr educatin is already being explred, such as systems that are respnsive t the emtinal states f students. And BCI-based educatinal games have been used t reduce math anxiety. Althugh prgress has been made, majr limitatins and challenges remain. Current BCI educatinal systems are nly prf-f-cncepts and have nt demnstrated enugh effectiveness, due t technlgical and educatinal factrs.
28.What can we knw abut BCIs?
A.Reading neural signals requires n human meaning.
B.External devices are essential in indirect cmmunicatin.
C.Stimulating nerves cmpletes infrmatin transmissin.
D.Brain-device cmmunicatin can be dne thrugh BCIs.
29.Why des the authr mentin a persn using a BCI in Paragraph 2?
A.T illustrate the functin f current BCI systems.B.T shw the purpse f bilgical system.
C.T give an example f infrmatin flw.D.T track the prcess f cmmunicatin.
30.Which is required in achieving tw-way brain-cmputer cmmunicatin systems?
A.Integrated ability.B.A real-time netwrk.
C.Dynamic interactin.D.Brain-device cperatin.
31.What is the last paragraph mainly abut?
A.The future f BCI systems.B.The benefits f using BCI devices.
C.The applicatin f BCI technlgy.D.The situatin f BCI educatinal systems.
D
“Anyne can lve the muntains, but it takes a sul t lve the prairie (大草原).” wrte Willa Cather, authr f “O Pineers!”, the great nvel f early westward struggles and the kind f character it tk t appreciate the wild and vast beauty f the plains.
The Native Americans f the Great Plains had lived ff the land fr many generatins. T see them atp their hrses, crssing the currents f glden grass, was surely a magnificent sight. And there were bisn (北美野牛). Millins f them.
The bisn has great spiritual significance t America’s first peple. It represents life and abundance. A 2,000-pund animal is a lt f meat. Nearly every part f the bisn was used fr fd, tls, clthing and shelter.
It’s hard fr us t imagine the green plains with grass as tall as a hrse’s shulder, and great herds f bisn accmpanied by deer, antelpe and elk. The prairie prvided everything a civilizatin needed — until the bisn were gne. With the herds being hunted, the game herds decreased, native plants disappeared, drught and dust fllwed. Sadly, the land wuld lie depleted fr ver 150 years.
But since 2014, Tanka Fund, a tribal-led nnprfit, has been creating a netwrk f native bisn farmers. In thse 11 years, they have restred ver 2,500 head f bisn t 100,000 acres f land.
Bringing back the bisn has been symblic f tribes regaining their place n the land. It has als brught abut an unexpected recvery f the prairie ecsystem. The massive animals turn ver and fertilize the grund fr future grwth. They plw thrugh deep snw and uncver grass that deer and antelpe cannt get t n their wn. The lands inhabited by bisn are filled with a variety f life. With the help f the Tanka Fund and the farmers cmmitted t the return f the bisn, the Great Plains are making a great cmeback. It is an example t us all that recvery and abundance are pssible.
32.Why is the nvel “O Pineers!” mentined in Paragraph 1?
A.T highlight the ppularity f Willa Cather.
B.T stress the tughness f living n the plains.
C.T intrduce a special perid in American histry.
D.T shw earlier peple’s lve fr the prairie.
33.What des Paragraph 3 mainly tell us abut the bisn?
A.Their characters.B.Their ppulatin.
C.Their imprtance.D.Their living cnditin.
34.What is the prbable meaning f the underlined wrd “depleted” in Paragraph 4?
A.Independent.B.Nisy.C.Dry.D.Deserted.
35.What has the recvery f bisn brught t the prairie?
A.A healthier ecsystem.B.Destructin f surface sil.
C.Decrease f ther animals.D.Ecnmic imprvement.

We’ve all been there—yu’ve sent a message and it’s marked “read”, but yu haven’t heard anything back. What’s the deal? While being left n read (已读不回) can be cnfusing, it’s als pretty cmmn. 36 Here are a few tips.
Expect the best. Remind yurself that the persn is prbably just busy. Ask yurself if yu actually knw their schedule. There culd be sme time cmmitments yu aren’t aware f. Here are a few ther reasns fr a delayed respnse. 37 They put their phne away t fcus n wrk r schl. They accidentally frgt t reply. Maybe they thught abut what they wanted t say but didn’t actually text it.
Resist the temptatin (诱惑) t duble-text. 38 If yu send a lt f fllw-up texts, it’ll be hard fr them t keep up and they might get stressed. Leave them with just ne text t catch up n—the ther persn will prbably appreciate yur patience.
Read ver yur previus messages. See if there are any cnfusing texts that yu need t clarify. It’s kay if yu review yur message again and ntice that it might have been a little unclear—it happens! 39
40 Keep it ut f sight and get sme peace f mind. Dn’t let it upset r cnfuse yu. If yu get yur mind ff any ntificatins, yu’ll be able t brainstrm new ways t spend yur time.
A.Put yur phne away.
B.Fix yur attentin clsely n text respnses.
C.Give them a little space s they have a chance t reply.
D.They want t give yu a lnger respnse but can’t right nw.
E.Ask yurself why being left n “read” frustrates r cnfuses yu.
F.Yu can keep the situatin frm bthering yu until yu hear back.
G.Yu might feel relieved when yu find smething that is easy t misread.
第三部分:语言运用(共两节,满分 30分)
第一节:(共15小题;每小题 1分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
Mst f us think f electricity nly when smething ges wrng. A strm 41 the pwer ut, r there’s a shrt in the wiring, r the mnthly bill is unexpectedly high. Nrmally, we switch n, the juice flws, and we think nthing f it.
Accrding t the Internatinal Energy Agency, rising verall demand fr electricity is utstripping (超过) the wrld’s effrts t imprve efficiency and bst renewables. The fact is, ecnmic develpment will inevitably require greater 42 f electricity. It is increasingly clear that nuclear pwer plants must play an imprtant rle in this equatin (制衡关系).
Nuclear pwer is, in many ways, the mst prmising surce f zer-carbn electricity. Unlike slar, wind and water pwer, electricity frm nuclear plants is 43 . Generatrs keep running when the sun is nt shining, the wind is nt blwing and water levels are lw. Nevertheless, the industry has an uncertain and dangerus 44 . Take the United States as an example. There are fewer cmmercial reactrs (商用核反应堆) in 45 tday in the cuntry than there were a generatin ag. This year culd see three cmmercial reactrs 46 . There are plans t shut dwn abut 20 mre ver the cming years.
The prblem is a misunderstanding f 47 . Humans are cnstantly expsed t radiatin (辐射) — frm the sun, frm the universe, frm the very grund we walk n. The alarming near-meltdwn at Pennsylvania’s Three Mile Island plant in 1979 48 expsed neighbrs t abut ne-sixth the radiatin dse they wuld receive frm having a single X-ray.
Micrsft c-funder Bill Gates is ne f a grwing number f 49 wh believe that cheaper, smaller reactrs must play a significant part in the pst-carbn energy mix (能源结构). His cmpany Terra Pwer has annunced plans t build a next-generatin nuclear reactr at the site f a frmer cal-fired pwer plant in Wyming. The gal is t prve that nuclear pwer can be 50 t the grid (输电网) at a cmpetitive price and n a reasnable timeline.
I'm an ptimistic supprter f renewable energy surces. I’m als a (n) 51 student f the varius impediments (阻碍) t the grwth f these surces. I agree with Gates that the surest path t net-zer carbn emissins is ne that 52 every nn-carbn energy surce, including nuclear pwer. The mdel t have in mind is nt the hulking plant like Chernbyl. Instead, let's cnsider the small, reliable reactrs that have 53 the United States' submarines and aircraft carriers. In 50-plus years f cruising, they have had n 54 .
Carbn emissins and ther greenhuse gases are the envirnmental challenge f ur age. Nuclear pwer is ne tl fr 55 urselves f them — while keeping the lights n.

Jasn held his script t tightly, making the pages wrinkle. His palms had left damp marks n his Of Mice and Men script. Acrss the rehearsal (排练) rm, Liam was ding his usual annying trick — balancing a pencil n his nse during rehearsals — fr the third time this week.
Last year, they were great partners when they acted in The Outsiders tgether. Their rftp “Stay gld” scene even gt featured in the schl newsletter. But nw, everything changed.
The truble started during rehearsals. Jasn insisted n fllwing the bk’s exact gestures. But Liam kept adding new mves — hugging an invisible puppy during serius lines, pretending t trip ver “rabbits”.
“Lennie wuldn’t d that!” Jasn whispered angrily after a rehearsal.
“At least my Lennie wuldn’t sund like a human tape recrder,” Liam snapped back.
Their fight grew bigger every day. Liam put vinegar in Jasn’s water bttle. Jasn “accidentally” lcked Liam’s favrite script in the strage rm. Their teacher even put up a sign saying “NO MOREFOOD FIGHTS” after they threw ketchup packets at each ther.
The explding mment came during their final practice. During the barn scene, Liam suddenly hwled like a wlf. The yunger students laughed ludly. Jasn was s mad that he ran ff the stage — and crashed right int the wden chairs, breaking three f them.
That night, Jasn culdn’t sleep. He kept thinking abut hw Liam used t gently push his shulder befre scary scenes t encurage him. At 1 AM, he gt n his bike and rde back t schl.
The strage rm light was n. Inside, Liam was sitting n the flr, trying t fix the brken chairs. Next t him was a chclate bar — the kind Jasn always ate.
Jasn frze, his eyes wide with a mix f astnishment and guilt when he realized it was the chairs he had kicked and brken. “Liam... I... I didn’t think I’d see yu here fixing these,” Jasn stammered, his vice barely abve a whisper.
Liam kept his head lw, “Yeah, well, smene had t. The shw is next week.”
