Dd, an dd-lking flightless bird, lived n the island f Mauritius in the Indian Ocean

Nw, a team f scientists wants t bring back the dd. Shapir said that she had already

in Denmark. The next step was t cmpare the genetic infrmatin with the dd’s clsest bird
relatives in the pigen family.
The fllwing wrk that’s needed t resurrect the animal—prgramming cells frm a living
relative f the dd with the lst bird’s DNA—will be significantly mre difficult. Shapir said
she hpes t adapt an existing technique that has already been used t create a chicken fathered
by a duck.
Hwever, Shapir said that perfecting these synthetic (合 成 的 ) bilgy tls will have
wider implicatins fr bird cnservatin. The techniques culd allw scientists t mve specific
genetic traits between bird species t help prtect them as habitats shrink and the climate warms.
Shapir thught the technlgy which wrks in chickens wuld be amazing t get this t wrk
in lts f different birds acrss the bird tree f life because that will be hugely impactful fr bird

A.Scientists can change a duck int a chicken.
B.Synthetic bilgy tls will shrink bird habitats.
C.Prtectin f birds will benefit frm the technlgy.
D.The prject will bring back the dd sn.
31.Why are the numbers mentined in the last paragraph?
A.T shw the prject is prmising.

light—in the mdel plants were abut duble that f thse grwn withut bacteria.
“The study results have imprtant implicatins fr future lngterm stays n the mn, ” the
study’s lead researcher, Sun Zhencai, tld Xinhua. Earth bacteria may help astrnauts make
better use f lunar resurces, such as creating lunar greenhuses. In their fllw-up research,
they hpe t experiment with real lunar sil samples and grw crps like rice, crn and ptates.
Since the duratin f space missins is increasing, carrying all fd supplies t space
becmes unsustainable. Hence, “space farmers” becmes critical.
During the Shenzhu XI missin, astrnauts managed t grw lettuce, frm swing t
harvest. In the later missins, the “space farmers” have successfully grwn wheat, rice and thale
cress (拟南芥), accrding t CCTV News.
The mst recent visitrs t China’s space statin, the Shenzhu XVII astrnauts, are nw
grwing lettuce, scallin and cherry tmat. These “space farmers” nt nly prvide astrnauts
