Nearly ninety percent f the U.S. states are failing t sufficiently deal with plastic pllutin, accrding t a reprt by the Ocean Prtectin Assciatin. The U.S. prduces 40 millin tns f plastic waste every year. Managing plastic waste in the U.S. csts ver $32 billin yearly. Withut flexible slutins, that increasingly serius issue will create a great challenge t cmmunities, budgets and envirnment.
While plastics transfrmed mdern life with their chemical resistance and wide use, ur waste management systems never imprved t handle them. Take Califrnia fr example — it has intrduced strict rules and bans, but at high ecnmic cst and with limited natinwide impact.

Traditinal industries, ften viewed as part f the prblem, can play a big rle in slving it if they adpt technlgies that balance prfitability(盈利能力) and sustainability(可持续性). When they ffer slutins that require n behavir change frm the cnsumers, but all the benefits f a cleaner envirnment, everyne wins.
The slutins are here tday. With the right technlgies and fficial supprt, we can turn the very waste plluting ur rivers and bdies int a resurce that mtivates sustainable industry. What we need is the will t act and the visin t recgnize that the future f waste is nt abut mre recycling. It is abut innvatin.
      32. Which statement will the authr agree with abut America's plastic waste?
      A. Mst f the U.S. states manage it well.
      B. It brings ecnmic and envirnmental pressure.
      C. Its recycling system wrks efficiently.
      D. Califrnia sets a gd example in dealing with it.
      33. What is a key cause f the glbal plastic crisis?
      A. Limited natinwide impact.B. Ineffective gvernment plicies.C. Unrealistic recycling system.D. Disappinting circular ecnmies.
      34. What can we learn abut the slutin accrding t the last tw paragraphs?
      A. It demands cnsumers t change.B. It relies mainly n fficial supprt.
      C. It aims t replace traditinal industries.D. It fcuses mre n innvative practices.
      35. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. Is Recycling Still a Questin?B. The Path t Sustainable Industries
      C. America's Plastic Crisis' Way utD. Hw D Plastics Pllute the Envirnment?

My whle family flew frm New England t Seattle fr my graduatin ceremny — especially my mm, my biggest supprter wh is warm and never shy abut hw much she lves me. She'd spent weeks preparing every little detail, packing my favrite snacks and texting me daily t remind me t stay calm when nervus.
The ceremny was at a dwntwn church I'd never visited, n a wet December afternn. As I was getting ready, I heard abut the stairs I'd have t climb during the ceremny — I culdn't handle that pressure, and walking acrss the stage already scared me.
I called my friend Sally, crying “I wuldn't g” — the stairs were the last thing that made me give up. We'd gtten thrugh tw tugh years f staying tgether: taking classes, studying, and editing each ther's wrk. Sally was my schl - prvided ntetaker, since my cerebral palsy(脑瘫) made writing slw. I culdn't take ntes, listen, and jin discussins at nce. She knew my tears weren't just abut stairs, but feeling hurt — everyne knew abut my disability, yet planners ignred easy access fr peple wh struggled with steps.
I'd texted my mm earlier, wrrying I might freeze r fall. Her reply was very instant: “Yu've gtten thrugh harder things than a few stairs, lve. We'll be right there, cheering s lud yu'll hear us ver everyne else.”
“Yu're walking!” Sally said, prmising t make arrangements fr me. At the sight f her timely presence, my breathing slwed, and I agreed t be at the church in an hur. At the church, I saw the stairs and realized I als feared shaking hands, as my right hand was unsteady frm cerebral palsy. Tears nearly came back, but Sally hugged me: “I've gt it wrked ut. Yu wn't be alne.” We jked in the restrm, and her wrds calmed me. I walked int the church, fcused n getting thrugh. During the ceremny, I watched graduates climb the stairs and crss the stage smthly, ne by ne.
