      An 11-year-ld by has becme a her since his quick thinking saved tw lives. Davyn Jhnsn helped save a chking classmate and a wman attempting t escape a fire. On Dec. 8, 2021 the Muskgee Cunty Sheriff’s Department hnred Jhnsn fr his herics at a meeting. At the event, Undersheriff Greg Martin gave the sixth-grader a certificate naming him an hnrary deputy fr the Muskgee Cunty Sheriff’s Office. “We are all s prud f yu, Jhnsn!!” wrte the sheriff’s ffice in a pst n Facebk n Dec. 14, 2021.
      The Muskgee Public Schls recgnized Davyn Jhnsn during the meeting Tuesday. Principal Latricia Dawkins cnsidered Jhnsn a her in an interview. “He always says that he wants t be an emergency medical technician. S he put that desire int actin and immediately saved that yung man,” Dawkins said, adding that Jhnsn “is just a kind sul and liked by students and teachers”.
      The first incident happened during the schl day. Jhnsn jumped int actin after ne f his classmates accidentally swallwed a water bttle cap and was chked (窒息) by it after attempting t unscrew (拧开) it with his muth. Jhnsn immediately ran t the child and perfrmed the Heimlich maneuver. Dawkins said, “Frm the accunt f the witnesses, when he did it, the bttle cap came ut.” Jhnsn said he learned hw t d the Heimlich maneuver n YuTube, and suggested thers d the same.
      Jhnsn’s herism didn’t end there. After schl, during the day after he saved his classmate, Jhnsn sptted a wman attempting t escape frm a burning hme. He quickly realized the wrried wman was mving slwly and ran acrss the street t help her. “She was a disabled lady and being a gd citizen, I shuld help her leave,” Jhnsn said.

      S, seven years ag, when a friend revealed that her child was stuck in self-dubt and self-distrust, Jandrisevits, nw 49, knew what might help the yuth thrugh this ptentially challenging perid. “It’s hard t tell a kid, ‘Yu are perfect the way yu are,’ and t build self-esteem (自尊) that way, but never ffer them anything that lks like them,” she says.
      Jandrisevits went abut changing that. She crafted a dll by hand — using fabric, stitching, and markers — that resembled (像) her friend’s child and sent it ff. After the friend psted a pht nline f the happy child and dll, anther wman asked Jandrisevits t make a dll that lked like her baby, wh was missing a leg.
      Wrd spread, and sn Jandrisevits was making dlls fr children with scars, birthmarks, facial defrmities(畸形), — in shrt, a dll that lked like them. She quit her jb and started a nnprfit, A Dll Like Me.
      Wrking ut f her hme in Milwaukee, frm phts sent by parents r caregivers, it takes Jandrisevits rughly three days t craft nly ne dll. A GFundMe page helps her cver csts and allws her t dnate her services. She hasn’t charged fr a dll since she began her nnprfit.
