StarSmart Explrer is the nly astrnmy app t use mdern plate slving technlgy t find its target, and it claims a typical pinting accuracy f 0.25°. The app takes a picture f the night sky and matches the star pattern within the image t its internal database. It's similar, in essence, t facial recgnitin.
Plate slving wuld nrmally require specialised technlgy, such as sensitive imaging camera, lens and astrnmical sftware, all at great cst. The StarSmart Explrer app is free and wrks well with StarSmart Explrer telescpes, starting frm £299.99.

“I write t find ut what I’m thinking,” wrte the great American jurnalist Jhn Ds Passs. Anyne engaged in writing understands this truth: the act f writing transfrms half - frmed ideas int precise, lgical thught. What sunds cherent (有条理的) when spken ften appears weak and illgical when cmmitted t paper.
A recent MIT study prvides cnvincing scientific evidence fr this claim. Researchers used wearable brain scanners t cmpare students wh wrte essays independently with thse using AI assistance. The findings were clear: AI - assisted writers “cnsistently underperfrmed at brain, verbal, and behaviural levels.” They demnstrated that we need t write in rder t think deeply.
This research emerges at a critical histrical mment fr literacy. Childhd reading has reached recrd lws, with nearly half f British adults nt reading a single bk last year. Adult literacy is declining r making n prgress acrss mst OECD cuntries. Ntably, average IQs have begun t decline since the 1980s, alng with reasning and prblem - slving abilities — a trend that is unlikely t be randm.
Walter Ong’s influential wrk “Orality and Literacy” illuminates why writing is essential. He argued that literacy enabled Ancient Greece’s intellectual revlutin. Oral cultures must “think memrable thughts”, relying n rhyme, emtin, and cliché (陈词滥调) t preserve knwledge. Writing, by cntrast, allws fr precise, cmplex statements that can be examined, reviewed, and develped int lgical arguments.
In ur digital age, n technlgy has surpassed the cmplicated architecture f the bk. While the internet ffers fragmented (碎片化的) infrmatin, bks prvide rich cntext and sustained lgical cnnectins. Reading is an active prcess that demands engagement and cncentratin — it is essentially thinking in dialgue with the text.
As ur culture becmes increasingly dminated by shrt - frm vides and attentin - fragmenting cntent, we risk lsing the capacity fr cmplex reasning. Reading and writing frm the fundatin f serius thught — a habit that unites histry’s greatest minds. Befre we yield ur cgnitive develpment t screens and algrithms, we must carefully cnsider what we might be sacrificing.
      28. What is the functin f writing accrding t Jhn Ds Passs?
      A. Revealing flaws in speech.B. Recrding spken wrds.
      C. Organizing thughts.D. Ensuring fluency.
      29. What is the key advantage f writing ver ral cultures?
      A. It ensures greater bjectivity.B. It makes fr lgical statements.
      C. It preserves knwledge lnger.D. It requires “memrable thughts”.
      30. Why des the authr describe reading as “thinking in dialgue with the text”?
      A. T shw its interactive feature.
      B. T cntrast with nline reading.
      C. T underline its lgical structure.
      D. T highlight its cultural relevance.
      31. What is the authr’s attitude twards peple’s reasning capacity?
      A. Dismissive.B. Cncerned.
      C. Critical.D. Skeptical.
      D
Fr the past year, I've managed CRM with a wrkmate wh never sleeps, never rests, and has read mre than I culd in 100 lifetimes. In daily meetings, I ask it t analyze cmpetitrs, imprve speeches, r find hidden strategic blind spts. This wrkmate is my AI agent, and we wrk tgether cnstantly.
We are entering the agentic age, the biggest transfrmatin in wrk histry. Fr the first time, machines can perfrm nt nly repetitive tasks but als mental wrk nce reserved fr humans. These AI agents — able t think, adapt, and act n their wn — are already changing thusands f cmpanies and will ultimately affect every jb and persn.
As a tech cmpany CEO, I believe this technlgy can bring huge ecnmic grwth and new businesses. It can als imprve healthcare, educatin, and daily life. Yet sme experts predict AI will sn reach "artificial general intelligence (AGI)", matching r being smarter than humans and making peple's skills useless. There I disagree. AI like large language mdels (LLMs) is pwerful but has limits. The biggest advances will cme frm AI agents that use LLMs and data t understand businesses and drive utcmes.
Hwever, there will always be frntiers nly humans can crss. AI has n childhd, n heart. It des nt lve r feel lss. Because f that, it's incapable f expressing true empathy r understanding human cnnectin. Thse are ur superpwers: the frces that spark great inventins, that inspire artistic masterpieces, and that enable us t read a rm, earn trust, and build lasting bnds.
The critical questin fr leaders is nt just what AI can d, but what rle we chse fr it.
At CRM, we've made ur chice. We are building a new perating system fr businesses. It is designed fr humans and AI t wrk tgether effectively. This is fundamentally changing the way we wrk. Since the end f last year, fr example, custmer - service agents managed by ur emplyees have carried ut mre than 1.3 millin cnversatins, reslving 85% f incming queries. That's giving ur teams mre time t deepen relatinships with custmers t ensure they're getting the mst frm ur prducts.
This is what it means t weave AI int the fabric f business. It's nt abut verlaying a new technlgy n ld wrkflws. It's abut empwering peple, restring time and energy fr what matters mst.
      32. Why is the agentic age the biggest transfrmatin in wrk histry?
      A. AI becmes smarter than humans.
      B. AI has replaced mst human wrkers.
      C. AI can nw handle physical tasks efficiently.
      D. AI is perfrming nce human - nly mental tasks.
      33. What are "ur superpwers" in Paragraph 4?
      A. Skills that AI can learn frm data.
      B. Human abilities t create and lead.
      C. Qualities AI gained thrugh training.
      D. Talents fr understanding businesses.
      34. What is the primary functin f the example prvided in Paragraph 6?
      A. T predict the bright future f the cmpany.
      B. T illustrate the effect f human - AI cperatin.
      C. T highlight the challenges in trying new technlgy.
      D. T explain the technical prcess f building an AI system.
      35. Which f the fllwing best serves as the title f the text?
      A. The AI Agent: A Grwing Threat
      B. The AI Agent: A Pwerful Wrkfrce
      C. The Agentic Age: A Future Run by AI
      D. The Agentic Age: A Human - AI Partnership

Over the last 60 years, many spacecraft have flwn by, circled and even landed n Mars. But human explrers culd wrk faster and be mre flexible than machines. Setting ft n Mars wuld be a majr milestne in space explratin. 36 Hwever, it is difficult t survive this adventure.
First, a rundtrip t Mars causes many extra health risks. Fr ne thing, flating in micrgravity fr lng perids weakens bnes and muscles. Fr anther, it allws fluid t build up in the head. 37 Luckily, artificial gravity machines culd help.
Then there's space radiatin t wrry abut. The Earth's magnetic field prtects astrnauts near Earth frm high - energy csmic (宇宙的) rays. Thse csmic rays might raise the risk f cancer and ther health prblems. 38 This increases the risk f develping the diseases. Taking certain vitamins culd reduce the impacts.
39 Since astrnauts can't carry cnstructin materials frm Earth, scientists are dreaming up ways fr astrnauts t use materials n Mars. Lng - term visitrs wuld als need plenty f xygen t breathe. A device n NASA's Perseverance rver is currently laying the grundwrk fr a future Mars xygen factry.
Planning a trip t Mars isn't just abut keeping astrnauts safe. 40 Humans are filled with micrbes (微生物). And spreading thse micrbes culd be bad fr the search fr life n Mars. As a result, a key part f respnsible space explratin is making sure Earth bacteria dn't infect ther planets.

When I was seven years ld, my family mved frm Mexic t America. In Mexic, I was a cheerful girl wh lved making peple laugh with my jkes and inventing fun games t play with my friends. Hwever, when I arrived in America, I fund it hard t fit in, and I became quieter.
We lived in a small huse with a mdest yard where we grew vegetables—my respnsibility. While I tk pride in watching them grw, there were times when I dreamed f having a beautiful garden like my schlmate Luella’s, with its delicate tulips (郁金香). Althugh Luella lived in the same neighbrhd as me, we barely knew each ther.
It was after a trnad that Luella and I finally became clse friends.
The trnad struck n a Sunday afternn. The gentle breeze transfrmed int a strng wind, and thick gray cluds filled the sky. Gradually, the trnad tk shape, starting as a thin rpe and grwing int a large black funnel (漏斗). My entire family gathered in the bathrm, seeking shelter frm the strm. Terrified, I sat clse t my mm, knees in my chest. After the strm had passed, ur wrries and fears were replaced by relief that we were unharmed and that ur huse had remained undamaged.
As I stepped utside, I witnessed the extent f the damage the trnad had caused t ur neighbrhd. Acrss the street, a tall tree had fallen, crushing Luella’s garden in frnt f her yellw huse. We hurried ver t check n it. Frtunately, her family seemed t be away at the time, and n ne was injured. Hwever, her nce - beautiful garden was in ruins, with the fallen tree destrying the tulips and debris (碎片) spread everywhere. I culd nly imagine hw heartbrken they must feel seeing this.
Then my mm’s usual wrds rang in my ear, “It is mre blessed t give than t receive,” and my family started t think abut hw we culd help.
