M: Nursena Burus, a 19-year-ld frm Türkiye, has develped a taste fr Chinese culture thanks t its cuisine and her travels arund the cuntry.
⑰Burus’ sister, wh studied at China’s Xiamen University, encuraged Burus t cme and explre China. “My friends thught learning Chinese was t difficult, but my sister shwed me pictures f her life in China—her friends, festivals and fd,” Burus said. “I saw it as mre than just a place t study. It lked mre like an adventure.”
Burus arrived in China in February 2024, right befre the Chinese New Year, and quickly experienced the lively festive atmsphere. “Everywhere I went, the streets were filled with red. It was a new experience fr me,” she said.
⑱After settling int Tianjin University, Burus nticed that the usually busy campus was almst empty at the Spring Festival. “It reminds me f the Ramadan Feast in Türkiye when we return t ur hmetwns t celebrate with family. I lve hw bth cultures value family gatherings during imprtant hlidays,” Burus said. ⑲As classes began in March, Burus quickly adapted t learning and living at Tianjin University. Her best Chinese friend Meiqi taught her hw t use chpsticks and intrduced her t Tianjin street fd. ⑳One f Burus’ mst special memries was celebrating the Dragn Bat Festival in 2024. That day happened t be her birthday, and she learned hw t make zngzi with her classmates.
