B
Starting at the bkcases in my study, packed with s many great bks that had remained unread, I heard a
lud vice in my head— “Hw can yu leave these masterpieces unread?”
The first bk I picked up was Mntaigne’s Essays. T my surprise, I discvered in the margins
my wn fixed hand-writing. S I was actually reading it again, but what I was rereading seemed entirely new. I als
fund sentences underlined. Only this time I wndered: Why did I underline this sentence? It’s the next ne that is
imprtant!
Clearly, my view f reading had changed ver the years. This raised the larger questin f rereading, which
cmes in many frms. There’s vluntary rereading, the result f a willful decisin t revisit a bk ne has admired,
r t cnfirm certain details in the text. A devted teacher might wish t refresh his understanding f a wrk, and
thus avid teaching thrugh the same ld written ntes with sprific (令人昏昏欲睡的) effects.
Next, there’s invluntary rereading. The riginal reading was either frgtten r s ttally absrbed that the
new chance encunter with the text prduced surprise and astnishment. My reactin t the renewed reading n
lnger felt like the riginal experience, and I was n lnger sure that I recgnized myself as the same reader.
Then there are what ne might call subcnscius (潜意识的) rereadings, thse that happen withut reading—
much like recalling a sng withut actually being heard again. This remembered cnnectin t bks stays with us
fr life, shaping and strengthening us. We may ver the years recite t urselves pems learnt by heart lng ag,
which have becme part f ur self-recgnitin.
All f these ways f reading are valuable. The “new” reading, a frm f revisin, uncvers the change in us.
The newness is nt in the text. Rereading makes it pssible fr us t see the wrld arund us, urselves included, in
a new light.
4. What did the authr find when reading Mntaigne’s Essays?
A. He culdn’t understand it. B. It was his favrite wrk.
C. He had made ntes in it. D. It was a brand-new cpy.
5. What culd be a purpse f vluntary rereading fr a teacher?
A. T learn frm admirable characters. B. T imprve the quality f teaching.
C. T cllect details fr writing nvels. D. T help make imprtant decisins.
6. What can invluntary rereading bring abut?
A. Better reading skills. B. Original preference fr bks.
C. Faster reading speed. D. Unexpected reading experience.
7. What can be learnt abut subcnscius rereading?
A. It helps make wh we are. B. It prevents memry frm fading.
C. It invlves actual reading. D. It wrks best with petry and music.
C 5. B 6. D 7. A

根 据 文 章 第 二 段 “T my surprise, I discvered in the margins(页 边 空 白 )my wn fixed
hand-writing. S I was actually reading it again, but what I was rereading seemed entirely new. I als fund
A devted teacher might wish t refresh his understanding f a wrk, and thus
avid teaching thrugh the same ld written ntes with srpific

Frm a physilgical pint f view, a nine-minute perid is practical. Our bdies start t fall int the secnd
stage f a sleep cycle abut 10 minutes after falling asleep. Therefre, a snze perid f nine minutes allws fr
less sudden awakening as it helps avid a deeper stage f sleep. This timing can als reduce sleepiness and make it
slightly easier t wake up when the alarm rings again.
The debate ver whether snzing is helpful r harmful cntinues amng sleep experts. Sme research

B. Make a chice by cnsidering yur wn sleep habits.
C. Ignre the snzing effect and fllw yur sleep patterns.
D. Cnsider bth psitive and negative effects f snzing befre deciding.

根据最后一段“makes yu mre tired than if yu wake up with the first alarm. Cntinuus,
undisturbed sleep is generally better fr mental abilities and verall health(这会让你比闹钟一响就醒更累。
Finally, understanding yur wn sleep patterns can help yu make the decisin

故选 A。
