      When I was grwing up, my dad spke t me f Mr. Ksuge, as “yur Japanese uncle.” My dad gt t knw him in 1991 in Beijing. They became fast friends, bnding ver a curisity abut the ther’s culture.

      Befre saying gdbye t the Ksuges, I invited them t visit my family in Califrnia, where they can help themselves t the persimmn tree anytime. Until then, I’ll be practicing the art f making dried persimmn with persimmns harvested by my parents, and perhaps we’ll include sme in ur annual Christmas package t the Ksuges.
