Have yu ever cnducted a jb interview thrugh vide? D yu wrk remtely and mstly cmmunicate with yur clleagues thrugh technlgies like Micrsft Teams r Slack? Technlgies are rapidly changing hw, when, and where we wrk. But what impact d they have n ur wrk mtivatin? We recently reviewed the research dne t answer this questin and unfrtunately, the news is nt s gd.
Fr the mst part, technlgies have wrsened the satisfactin f ur psychlgical needs when we wrk. They are rbbing us f ur feelings f cntrl and freedm because they mnitr us and tell us what and hw t d ur wrk; smetimes they als pressure us t wrk faster. And they are decreasing ur chances t create meaningful relatinships with clleagues.
T fix and avid these issues in the future, we have cncluded frm this review that we need t advcate fr the use f psychlgical knwledge when designing technlgies t be used in wrk envirnments. Psychlgists are well equipped t advise hw t design and use technlgies in ways that will maintain r even imprve the design f ur wrk.
Wrk is cnsidered t be well-designed when it gives us sme decisin-making pwer, prvides us with perfrmance feedback, and allws us t cnnect with clleagues nt nly t increase relatedness but als t see the impact ur wrk has n stakehlders (利益相关者). Gd wrk design makes ur wrk mre meaningful.
Why is this imprtant? Because wrk mtivatin that stems frm meaning and enjyment will be increasingly imprtant in the future f wrk. Indeed, as wrk envirnments and career tracks becme mre dynamic and precarius, we need wrkers t be mre active and flexible fr the changeable situatin. And mtivatin thrugh meaning and enjyment makes peple mre active and flexible.
S, when yu hear yur emplyer wants t intrduce new technlgies in yur wrkplace, ask them if they have used the service f psychlgy experts. It will ensure yur wrk keeps being designed in a way that will make it meaningful and enjyable.

“Is the glass half empty r half full?” This ld English saying has lng been used t tell a pessimist frm an ptimist. Fr mst yung peple tday, the answer is usually “half full”, because we have been taught that a psitive attitude twards life is ne f the primary keys t success.
Hwever, is this necessarily a gd thing? Recent studies indicate that it all depends. There is such a thing as t much psitivity. It happens when smene remains in a happy and psitive state and ignres any bad and negative emtins acrss all situatins. But as a matter f fact, it is nrmal fr us t experience any emtins. The death f a pet r lved ne, a lw scre n a test, r a muntain f new hmewrk shuld lead t emtins such as sadness, frustratin and anger. If we hide these emtins just because we want t lk ptimistic in frnt f ur friends and family, they can build up inside f us and end up erupting in unexpected ways. There is new evidence t suggest that many f these verly psitive peple are at a risk f develping drug r alchl addictins as well as ther psychlgical prblems.
Aside frm the persnal emtinal impacts, this attitude can als have a negative effect n the peple arund yu. Imagine having had a bad day, and wanting t talk abut it with yur friend. Hwever, instead f listening t yur prblems and sympathizing with yu, they simply tld yu t “be psitive” and give yu the impressin that yur prblems are being cmpletely ignred. Just take everything as it cmes and express hw yu really feel. This makes yu human, and yur true friends will always stick by yu.
S my simple advice t yu is t d what gives yu the best “attitude” in life, whatever fr yu that might be. Regardless f whether a glass is half-empty r half-full, it nnetheless still has space t fill.
      8. Why des the writer mentin the glass at the beginning f the text?
      A. T give sme evidence.B. T intrduce the tpic.
      C. T present an argument.D. T explain his ideas.
      9. What is the writer’s attitude t the persn wh remains psitive acrss all situatins?
      A. Negative.B. Supprtive.C. Dubtful.D. Unclear.
      10. What is the main idea f paragraph 3?
      A. The cause f verly psitivity.
      B. The preventin f verly psitivity.
      C. The bad effect f verly psitivity n thers.
      D. The bad impacts f verly psitivity n persnal emtin.
      11. Which f the fllwing may the writer agree with?
      A. Psitivity is the key t success.
      B. We needn’t stay psitive all the time.
      C. There isn’t such a thing as verly psitive.
      D. Psitivity always des a harm effect t ur lives.
      D
One might expect that the ever-grwing demands f the turist trade wuld bring nthing but gd fr the cuntries that receive the hliday-makers. Indeed, a rsy picture is painted fr the lng-term future f the hliday industry. Every mnth sees the building f a new htel smewhere. And every mnth anther rck-bund Pacific island is advertised as ‘the last paradise n earth’.
Hwever, the scale and speed f this grwth seem set t destry the very things turists want t enjy. Overcrwded beaches and the cncrete jungles f endless htels have begun t lse their appeal. Thse cuntries with little experience f turism can suffer mst in a rush t make quick mney. In recent years, Nepal’s frests, full f wildlife and rare flwers, were ffered t turists as ne mre untuched paradise, with the cnsequent destructin f precius trees and plants.
The peple as well rapidly feel its effects. Farmland makes way fr htels, rads and airprts; the ld way f life ges. The ne-time farmer is nw the servant f sme multinatinal rganizatin; he is n lnger his wn master. Once it was his back that bre the pain; nw it is his smile that is explited. N dubt he wnders whether he wasn’t happier in his village wrking his wn land.
Thankfully, the turist industry is waking up t the respnsibilities it has twards thse cuntries that receive its custmers. The prtectin f wildlife and the creatin f natinal parks g hand in hand with turist develpment and in fact btain financial supprt frm turist cmpanies. At the same time, turists are being encuraged t respect nt nly the cuntryside they visit but als its peple.
The way turism is handled in the next ten years will decide its fate and that f the cuntries we all want t visit. Increased understanding in planning wrldwide turism can preserve the market fr these cmpanies. If nt, in a few years’ time the very things that attract turists nw may well have been destryed.
      12. What des the underlined sentence f Para. 1 imply abut turism expansin?
      A. Its technical challenge.B. Its psitive scial effects.
      C. Its ptential drawbacks.D. Its undervalued prfitability.
      13. Why des the authr mentin “Nepal” in Para. 2?
      A. T supprt an argument.B. T make cmparisn.
      C. T shw cause and effect.D. T grup related ideas.
      14. What is the main impact f turism n farmers based n the text?
      A. Increased pprtunities.B. Imprved wrk-life balance.
      C. Transfrmed livelihd.D. Enhanced scial status.
      15. What may determine the future f turism?
      A. Cultural diversity.B. Off-track destinatins.
      C. Stable market.D. Strengthened management.
