Nw, if he was talking nly abut utdrs’ meals, I almst understd the reasn. When yu’re ravenus after a day f burning ff calries walking r climbing r backcuntry skiing in the muntains, hw awesme d things taste! Just as the saying ges, hunger is the best sauce. And I agree. Abslutely.
But there’s mre t it than that. Last mnth, I went dwn the cast car camping with my family. One mrning, my wife made a statement. “I dn’t see the pint,” she said. “It’s s much wrk, camping. But the views at hme are better. The beds are mre cmfrtable. It’s mre peaceful. And at hme, the fd is better.” I’ll admit she’s right abut the first three. But the fd? We had a simple pasta ne night, snags anther, chicken curry the third, but they all tasted gd. Better than at hme. And it wasn’t simply that we were hungry; it was because we were camping.
The real pint I want t cnvey is that meals taste particularly gd when I’m camping because it reminds me f things that are easily verlked at hme, where I can just g t the cupbard r the supermarket and grab whatever I feel like. When yu’re camping, life is reduced t its essentials, and I’m reminded f hw privileged mst f us are t be dry, warm and fed. In truth, I was a practiced escape artist. If yu tried t get clse t me, I’d masterfully avid eye cntact by staring at yur shes and then excusing myself t keep a vitally imprtant appintment with my dry cleaner.
Life has a way f testing yu, thugh. I’m n extrardinary sul, but I am smene wh grws.
I have learned smething prfund alng the way. An pen heart is essential t becming a whle, kind, and wise persn. But it is nt enugh. Peple need scial skills: being curius abut ther peple; disagreeing withut harming relatinships; revealing vulnerability at the right time; being a gd listener; knwing hw t ask fr and ffer frgiveness; knwing hw t hst a gathering where everyne feels welcmed; knwing hw t see things frm thers’ pint f view.
In any cllectin f humans, there are diminishers and there are illuminatrs. Diminishers are self-absrbed; they shrink thers int insignificance. They steretype (有刻板印象) and label. If they learn ne fact abut yu, they spin it int a web f assumptins abut yur entire identity.
Illuminatrs, n the ther hand, have a persistent curisity abut ther peple. They have been trained r have trained themselves in the skill f understanding thers. Passage 4

Dn’t Let Persnality Types Define Yu
Persnality tests, especially the Myers-Briggs type indicatr (MBTI), are ppular tls that many peple use t better understand themselves and their relatinships with thers. MBTI srts peple int 16 different persnality types based n fur key categries. ___1___
The MBTI system prvides a simple way t categrize individuals based n their preferences. But peple are cmplex. Our persnalities can change ver time, depending n experiences and grwth. What the MBTI test reveals is just a snapsht f ne’s preferences, nt a cmplete definitin f wh yu are. Fr example, if the test labels (贴标签) yu as an “intrvert (内向的人)”, yu may feel tempted t avid scial cmmunicatin because yu think it’s nt in yur nature t be utging. But yu might find that yur ability t enjy scial events increases ver time. ___2___ Yu shuld see it as a starting pint fr self-reflectin and grwth.
Similarly, if yu are categrized as a “thinking” type, it might lead yu t believe that yu are always ratinal (理性的), while neglecting yur “feeling” side. ___3___ Emtinal respnse is als an essential part f human nature, and embracing them can enhance yur decisin-making prcess and relatinships.
___4___. They might think, fr instance, that an “intrvert” wuld nt be a gd leader. But there are cuntless examples f intrverts succeeding in these types f rles. Many intrverts achieve success thrugh careful listening and thughtful decisin-making. Dn’t let the MBTI label stp yu frm pursuing pprtunities that feel right fr yu.
Finally, ne f the mst imprtant lessns we can learn frm the MBTI is that we are nt defined by ne test r label. The test results shuld be seen as a guide, nt a limitatin. By fcusing n ur strengths and embracing the full cmplexity f ur persnalities, we can lead richer and mre fulfilling lives. ___5___
A. We are all mre than the labels we receive.
B. The key is nt t accept the label as an unchangeable fact.
C. Hwever, it’s essential t understand that bth parts are valuable.
D. We must admit emtin’s significant rle in persnal develpment.
E. Try t fcus n yur strengths rather than wrry abut yur weaknesses.
F. Additinally, many peple believe their “type” restricts their career r life chices.
G. Althugh these tests can prvide useful insights, they shuldn’t define r limit yu.
