毛笔（Chinese brush，writing brush），是一种源于中国的传统书写工具，也逐渐成为传统绘画工具。
如今用的毛笔，相传由秦朝监督修筑万里长城的将军蒙恬改良而成。
羽毛笔是用家禽、鹅、火鸡、天鹅、乌鸦、水鸭或其他鸟的翅膀上最大的五根羽毛来制作的笔，现代钢笔的前身。从中世纪到公元19世纪，羽毛笔作为书写工具记录欧洲文明进程的每一阶段。
广义上的钢笔是人们普遍使用的书写工具，发明于19世纪初，由美国人华特曼设计。
书写工具随着岁月的变迁而变化。唯一不会改变的是人类对知识的追逐！
