Traditinal methds f diagnsing mental health cnditins rely n direct cnversatins between patients and mental specialists. Hwever, these methds ften face challenges such as fllw-up track ver time and reliance n the dctrs’ subjective judgments. T address these issues, scientists are explring AI tls that can autmate the prcess.
Researchers at Suth-Central Minzu University in China develped an AI acustic (声学的) mdel that detects slight changes in a patient’s vice. It analyzes the sund prperties f speech, such as pitch, rhythm, and tne, t identify markers f mental health cnditins like depressin r anxiety. Unlike text-based AI, which can be influenced by cultural biases (偏见) r language barriers, acustic mdel fcuses n hw wrds are spken rather than the wrds themselves.
T detect minr changes in a patient’s vice, the mdel underges pre-training n large speech datasets t recgnize general speech patterns. This fundatinal step allws the system t identify cmplex audi variatins that may signal mental health issues. The mdel is then fine-tuned using recrdings f depressed patients t specialize in detecting depressin. Results shwed 96% accuracy in detecting depressin and 95% accuracy in categrizing its severity int fur levels. Anther methd, develped by researchers at Srbnne University in Paris, uses smartphne-recrded sund waves and then transfrms them int spectrgram (声谱图). The AI mdel analyzes these visual maps t detect mental health cnditins. Thugh still in early stages, this apprach shws prmise.
The ptential applicatins are vast. AI-based speech analysis can help patients wh struggle t express clearly abut their mental state, wrks acrss languages, and is particularly useful in rural areas with limited mental health resurces. It can als assist verburdened clinicians by classifying patients and mnitring thse underging hme treatment.
While diagnsis is vital, persnalized treatment is the next step. AI mdels culd help dctrs tailr treatments based n specific symptms, such as memry issues r exhaustin in depressin patients, further enhancing mental health care.
      12. What’s the AI tls’ advantage ver traditinal diagnsis methds?
      A. It talks directly t patients.B. It is ttally independent f dctrs.
      C. It prvides mre accurate diagnsis.D. It is mre bjective and saves time.
      13. Hw des the AI acustic mdel wrk?
      A. By understanding what patients say.B. By detecting the changes f patients.
      C. By analyzing patients’ ways f speaking.D. By remving patients’ language barriers.
      14. What may AI-based speech analysis help patients with ?
      A. Clarifying mental cnditins.B. Translating clinician’s advice.
      C. Relieving their heavy burden.D. Gaining mre hme treatment.
      15. What is the best title fr this article?
