638年（明崇祯十一年）4月23日，明代地理学家、旅行家、散文家徐霞客准备进入云南，在经过黄果树瀑布时，对黄果树瀑布进行了考察和记录。其后历代文人墨客作诗撰文赞颂黄果树瀑布。明末“天未才子”谢三秀诗中有“素影空中飘匹练，寒声天上落银河”；近、当代众多名人游历黄果树赞美大瀑布的诗文题记很多。现代诗人艾青说过：“黄果树是很美的，大家都来为黄果树写诗吧！”
黄果树瀑布名字的由来?
安顺市地区广泛分布着“黄葛树”,因为“黄葛树”的谐音是“黄果树”所以得此名。
