Step 1. Lead - in (5 minutes)
The teacher plays a vide abut delicius fds frm arund the wrld, shwing special dishes, desserts, etc. frm different cuntries t aruse students' interest.
After playing the vide, ask students, "What kind f delicius fd did yu see in the vide? D yu knw which cuntries they cme frm?" Guide students t recall the fds in the vide and share their thughts, naturally leading t the tpic f fd cultures in different cuntries in this lessn.
Step 2. Vcabulary Learning (8 minutes)
Use the PPT t shw the new vcabulary in 1a, such as "dessert", "sauce", "ingredient", "recipe", etc. Help students understand the meanings f the wrds thrugh pictures, simple English explanatins, and example sentences. Fr example, shw pictures f varius desserts t explain "dessert" and give the example sentence "I like t have a dessert after dinner."
Lead students t read the wrds and crrect their prnunciatins. Then play a wrd - chain game, where students take turns saying the newly learned wrds ne by ne t strengthen vcabulary memry.
Let students d simple sentence - making exercises with the newly learned wrds. Invite sme students t share their sentences, and the teacher gives timely feedback and guidance.
Step 3. Listening Practice (10 minutes)
Let students lk at the pictures in 1b and predict the listening cntent. The teacher reminds students t pay attentin t the fds and related scenes in the pictures.
Play the recrding f 1b. Students listen and cmplete the task f chsing the crrect answers. After playing, invite students t share their answers. The teacher checks and explains the key vcabulary and sentences in the listening cntent.
Play the recrding again. Let students listen and take ntes f the key infrmatin, such as the names f the fds, their characteristics, and the cuntries they cme frm. After that, let students wrk in pairs t exchange the infrmatin they recrded. The teacher walks arund and prvides help.
Step 4. Reading and Discussin (10 minutes)
Ask students t read the article in 2a with the questins "Which cuntries' special fds are mentined in the passage? What are they?" This helps t cultivate students' reading skills and their ability t btain key infrmatin.
After students finish reading, rganize grup discussins. Let them share their understandings and feelings abut the special fds f different cuntries in the article. Each grup selects a representative t reprt the discussin results t the whle class.
The teacher summarizes and supplements the reprts f each grup, guiding students t think deeply abut the characteristics and differences f different fd cultures and encuraging students t express their unique pinins.
Step 5. Oral Practice (7 minutes)
The teacher gives sme tpics, such as "What's yur favrite freign fd? Why d yu like it? Can yu intrduce its cking prcess r cultural backgrund?" Let students have a cnversatin practice in pairs.
The teacher walks arund each grup, encurages students t cmmunicate using the learned vcabulary and sentence patterns, and crrects students' language mistakes and inapprpriate expressins in a timely manner.
Invite several pairs f students t shw their cnversatins. Other students listen carefully and give evaluatins. The evaluatin cntent includes vcabulary usage, grammatical accuracy, and fluency f expressin. The teacher finally gives a summary evaluatin, affirming students' strengths, pinting ut existing prblems, and making imprvement suggestins.
Step 6. Writing Practice (5 minutes)
Assign a writing task: Ask students t chse a freign fd they like and write a shrt passage t intrduce its name, appearance, taste, cking prcess, and related cultural backgrund.
The teacher gives writing tips, such as using the learned vcabulary and sentence patterns and paying attentin t the structure and lgic f the article. Students start writing, and the teacher walks arund and prvides individual guidance.
