But, althugh my tw sisters and I knew that ur mther had heart prblems, this news still made us frzen fr a while with ur eyes widening in disbelief.
Dr. Marc Semigran f the transplant team reviewed my mther’s medical histry. She’d had an irregular and rapid heartbeat fr mst f her life. Rman’s heart punded as he stared at the snake, his mind racing t find a slutin. The snake’s scales (鳞片) shinning in the dim light, and its eyes seemed t pierce right thrugh him. Every slight mvement in the rm made the snake’s head mve, heightening the tensin. The kids were nw cwering (退缩) in a crner, their faces pale with terrr.
