Medha Pappula, an eighth-grader at Brambletn Middle Schl, is using her skill set t slve a prblem — bullying(霸凌). She recently earned an award (获奖) frm Natinal Bullying Preventin Center (NBPC) fr her anti-bullying effrts in sftware develpment and animatin (动画).
Pappula, 13, said she discvered that a classmate had experienced cyberbullying(网络霸凌), which was painful fr her t learn abut. “Even thugh I didn’t experience it, I wuldn’t wish that n anyne, even my wrst enemy,” Pappula said.
Then she develped a prgram that recgnizes when digital and text-based messages include bullying language. Pappula first designed and tested the prgram fr Discrd, a ppular cmmunity-based messaging platfrm (平台), and said she plans t develp it fr even bigger platfrms like Facebk and Twitter.
In additin t this prgram, the NBPC awarded Pappula fr a three-minute animated vide abut Unity Day, which she created and shared n YuTube last Octber.
