      Susan B. Anthny was called terrible names, had things thrwn at her, and even had her picture dragged thrugh the streets. But still she didn’t back dwn. She thught fighting fr wmen’s rights — and the rights f everyne — was t imprtant.
      Anthny was brn in Massachusetts in 1820. Frm an early age, she was taught that everyne shuld be equal. She knew it wasn’t fair that she didn’t have a say in electing (选择) plitical leaders just because she was a wman. She als thught that it wasn’t right that male teachers made mre mney than she did.       In 1856 Anthny jined the anti-slavery (反对奴隶) mvement. She gave speeches, rganized meetings, put up psters, and handed ut leaflets, even thugh she faced angry crwds f peple wh disagreed with her. She met Elizabeth Cady Stantn in 1851, and tgether they c-funded the Natinal Wman Suffrage Assciatin in 1869 t push fr wmen’s vting (投票) rights. They als launched a newspaper, The Revlutin, t spread their message.
      African-Americans were recgnized as U. S. citizens in 1870, and black men were later given the right t vte. But African-American wmen, like all wmen, still did nt have the right t vte. This made Anthny s angry that she cast a vte in the 1872 presidential electin, an act fr which she was arrested (逮捕) and fined $100 — thugh she never paid the fine.
      Anthny wrked fr mre than 50 years fr wmen’s rights, but she never gt t legally vte. She died n March 13,1906,14 years befre the 19th Amendment (修正案) gave all wmen the right t vte. Despite this, her effrts were recgnized, and the amendment was even referred t as the “Anthny Amendment” in her hnr. And in 1979, Anthny became the first wman t be n a U. S. cin, the silver dllar.

      Officials in Suth Carlina have recaptured (重新捕获) the last f 43 mnkeys that escaped frm a farm that raises mnkeys in early Nvember.
      Head f Alpha Genesis research center, Greg Westergaard, said the final fur recaptured mnkeys appeared t be in gd health. The remaining mnkeys had spent weeks living in the wds and even experienced a rare snwstrm.
      Alpha Genesis is a cmpany that ffers services t bimedical researchers. Sme lcals call it “the mnkey farm.” The animals — all female rhesus macaque mnkeys — escaped frm the grunds f the cmpany n Nvember 6.
      Plice wh investigated (调查) the incident said the mnkeys escaped when an emplyee failed t prperly lck their enclsure (围栏). Westergaard explained in Nvember that wrkers were suppsed t lck ne gate befre pening anther, but all three gates were left unlcked.
      Emplyees at Alpha Genesis tried t persuade the mnkeys t return with ffers f special fds, including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and “mnkey biscuits” — a high-prtein fd made specially fr rhesus macaques. Alpha Genesis emplyees kept an eye n the mnkeys and set ut kind traps. Mst f the animals came back t eat the fd.
