      The researchers used satellite measurements f nearly 2,000 f the wrld’s largest lakes, which tgether represent 95% f Earth’s ttal lake water strage. Examining mre than 250,000 satellite images spanning frm 1992 t 2020, alng with climate mdels, they were able t recnstruct the histry f the lakes ging back decades.
      “The results were staggering,” Ya said. “It’s a little scary t see hw many freshwater systems are unable t stre as much water as they used t.”
