It was amazing and pened my eyes t UK climbing. I didn’t realize hw challenging cycle turing wuld be with s much equipment. But it’s a great way t appreciate the landscape, and cmpleting a lng ride is as satisfying as getting t the tp f a rute. “Taylr explred a huge amunt f the cuntry in the prcess. She then cmpleted anther self-pwered rund, climbing the 100 rutes detailed in the guide Muntain Rck. “It is really a physical challenge,” Taylr says.
Having cme t the attentin f ne f the UK’s tp adventurers, Le Hulding. Taylr als went n a trip t the Guyanese Amazn t scale the giant Munt Rraima. “We were in the jungle fr a mnth,” she recalls. “That was incredible and pretty scary sleeping there at first, especially with huge spiders walking acrss yur tent!” Taylr thrives n the physical and mental challenges f climbing. “It’s all abut keeping yur head under cntrl,” she explains. “Yu practice with a safety rpe, and then it’s abut making the cmmitment f ding it withut ne.”

Yur muse pauses ver the “purchase nw” buttn, r yu’ve written the text but can’t quite bring yurself t press “send”. Yu hesitate.
Our culture values executin. We are big n “ging fr it”. This might be an unppular pinin, but I think there’s a lt f wisdm in listening t ur hesitatin.
Our minds are pwerful and imprtant, but s are ur bdies. We dn’t always make it a practice t listen t ur bdies. When we’re paying attentin, we have access t a lt f nnratinal infrmatin. Hesitatin can be a signal that there’s smething we haven’t cnsidered yet, sme hidden infrmatin we really need. When we walk up t the dr but dn’t quite want t pen it, it might be a gd idea t pause and cnsider what’s ging n in ur bdies. Is there smething we haven’t been paying attentin t?
When yu ntice yurself hesitating, yu’re nt in an enthusiastic “yes”. An enthusiastic “yes” means every part f yu—heart, mind, bdy, sul—is ready and willing t d the thing. Hesitatin means a part f yu isn’t quite sure. That desn’t necessarily mean it’s a “n”, either. Smetimes that part is fearful, perhaps because f past experiences. If ur ratinal minds knw that it’s perfectly safe, we may simply need t reassure that part and mve frward. That hesitatin culd als cme frm a part that knws, n sme level, that we’re rushing, that this isn’t the best ptin, and that we’re nt quite sure. We may need t gather mre infrmatin r ensure that we have actually lked at all the ther ptins.
One way that we can assist urselves with a specific decisin is t ntice when there’s hesitatin and, if yu have the time, wait. Sleep n it. Give it a week, even. Check back in with the decisin yu thught yu made and see if anything feels different. Anther interesting way is t walk up t the dr f it. Take actin as if yu had already made the decisin and, befre it’s irreversible, f curse, ntice hw it feels t walk that path. That may give yu mre infrmatin than thinking ever culd.
      28. What des the underlined wrd “executin” mean in the secnd paragraph?
      A. Thinking.B. Ding.C. Creating.D. Delaying.
      29. What brings abut hesitatin accrding t the passage?
      A. Inner fear.B. Indifference.C. The best ptin.D. Cmplete rejectin.
      30. What can help us with a wise decisin when facing hesitatin?
      A. Asking fr thers’ help.B. Stickıng t ur decisin.
      C. Sleeping until it disappears.D. Pstpning taking actins.
      31. What can be a suitable title fr the passage?
      A. Tips n Actin Plans.B. Wisdm f Hesitatin.
      C. Ways t Avid Hesitatin.D. Guidance n Purchase.
      D
Passing quietly away frm sudden heartbreak is a theme that pps up in myth and fantasy. In the Star Wars universe, Padmé Amidala may have died f a brken heart after her husband turned t the dark side. Shakespeare’s King Lear gives in t heartbreak after hearing f the death f his precius Crdelia.
Drama aside, it’s pssible these characters fell t Taktsub Syndrme (章鱼壶综合征) — a shrt, intense dysfunctin in the heart’s left ventricle (心室). It can ccur after extreme emtinal r physical stress, making “heartbreak” bth real and ptentially deadly.
While dying f heartbreak has been a ppular theme in fictin fr a lng time, clinicians nly began dcumenting real cases in the 1960s. As imaging technlgy imprved, dctrs culd directly study the hearts f affected patients. In many, the left ventricle — the part that pumps xygenated bld t the bdy — ballns ut. The utline reminded Japanese clinicians f a taktsub, a rund jar fr catching ctpuses. In 1990, cardilgist Hikaru Sat and his clleagues, at Hirshima City Hspital prpsed the term Taktsub t describe the cnditin.
What sparks it is still smething f a mystery. One hypthesis is that an acute painful event causes a surge f stress hrmnes. As the left ventricle is especially rich in receptrs fr these chemicals, a sudden fld culd cause the tense muscle t becme lse and swllen, making it incapable f delivering enugh bld t the bdy. Anther hypthesis is that a stress respnse “stuns” the heart temprarily, With the majrity f cases bserved in aging wmen, it’s als pssible that declining estrgen (雌激素) plays a rle.
Thugh severe, Taktsub is remarkably shrt-lived and typically nt deadly. Abut 4 percent f sufferers die, while abut 75 percent fully recver after 10 days. “It’s abslutely incredible,” said Trisha Singh, a cardilgist at University Hspitals Drset in England. “I remember seeing a lady with her left ventricular functin severely damaged, but when I came back and rescanned her six hurs later, it had gne frm severely damaged t almst mildly impaired t almst nrmal.”
Standard care is t treat the patient fr heart failure, “But nw, mre recently, especially with seeing sme peple recver s rapidly, it raises a questin;” Singh says. “Shuld we even be bthering with trying t put peple n these medicatins? Are they even ging t d any gd?” It’s pssible that with basic medical supprt fr the patient, the heart may unbreak itself.
      32. What can we learn abut Taktsub Syndrme?
      A. It has effects mstly n yung men.B. It is a permanent, incurable heart cnditin.
      C. It is an extreme reactin t sudden pressure.D. It is a fictinal scene nly in mvies and plays.
      33. What cntributes t the naming f the Syndrme?
      A. That the jar is used t treat the Syndrme.
      B. That ctpuses are knwn t cause the Syndrme.
      C. That the shape f the attacked heart resembles the jar.
      D. That the Syndrme was first discvered by Japanese fishermen.
      34. What is unrelated t the pssible cause f the Syndrme?
      A. The burst f bld.B. The reduced estrgen.
      C. The increasing hrmne.D. The nn-functinal muscle.
      35. What is Dr. Singh’s attitude twards the recvery thrugh medicatins?
      A. Casual.B. Pessimistic.C. Favrable.D. Skeptical.

“Fr sme kids large gatherings can feel verwhelming. ____40____, if that’s the case. It can be helpful t talk t yur child befre the event abut what they might experience and t discuss anything they may need t feel cmfrtable and safe.”
