教材分析
本单元话题是“难忘的事件”(Unfrgettable events)。本节课是本单元的第三节课,是一节语法课。本单元语法为过去进行时,学生需要掌握在含有该时态的句子中如何使用 when和while引导时间状语从句,并能够用过去进行时提问和回答。学生在前两个课时对这个语法项目的场景运用有了体会。本课时主要针对过去进行时的结构与表意功能,基本句式、用法,特殊用法以及when和while引导的时间状语从句的区别进行系统地讲解,并让学生通过练习,熟练掌握这个语法项目。
教学目标
学完这一课,学生能够掌握:
1.词汇:have a lk、icy、kid;
2.语法:过去进行时;when和while引导的时间状语从句。
教学重点
复习动词-ing形式的构成;过去进行时的结构与表意功能;when和while引导的时间状语从句。
教学难点
when与while的用法与区别。

新课导入
【教师活动】
(1)提出问题“D yu remember Ben’s experience in the rainstrm?”,让学生回忆上节课所学的内容,通过问答的形式与学生进行交流:
T: What was Ben’s dad ding while his mm was making sure the flashlights and radi were wrking?
S: Ben’s dad was putting pieces f wd ver the windws while his mm was making sure the flashlights and radi were wrking.
T: What was Ben ding when the rain began t beat heavily against the windws?
S: Ben was helping his mm make dinner when the rain began t beat heavily against the windws.
T: What did Ben d when the wind was dying dwn at arund 3:00 a.m.?
S: Ben finally fell asleep when the wind was dying dwn at arund 3:00 a.m.
(2)通过这些对话让学生回忆七年级学过的现在进行时中动词-ing形式的构成规律,并给出示例。让学生核对课前学习任务中的学习任务二。
【学生活动】在教师的指导下回忆Ben在暴风雨时的经历,并回顾动词-ing形式的构成规律,完成学习任务单中的课堂学习任务一。

Step 1: New wrds and expressins
要求学生课前预习新词,教师可抽出的适当时间进行检测,确保学生掌握本节生词,为新课学习作准备。
Step 2: Pre-learning
【教师活动】让学生根据汉语提示完成句子,然后请几名学生读一读他们补全后的句子。提醒学生重点关注填空处内容的特点,然后引出本节的重点语法——过去进行时以及when和while引导的时间状语从句。
【学生活动】完成学习任务单中课堂学习任务二的第1题。
Step 3: While-learning
【教师活动】让学生观察Grammar Fcus中的句子,引导他们感知过去进行时的功能结构、句式及用法,以及when和while引导的时间状语从句。
【学生活动】观察并思考,完成学习任务单中课堂学习任务二的第2题。
【教师活动】让学生分组进行探究,由学生整体总结归纳语法知识。教师最后进行整体讲解。
【学生活动】小组讨论,总结归纳语法知识,完成学习任务单中的课堂学习任务三。在教师讲解后,根据自己的实际掌握情况进行查漏补缺。
Step 4: Pst-learning
【教师活动】
(1)让学生朗读4a方框中的语块。
(2)引导学生按照4a的活动要求完成4a的任务,然后全班核对答案。
(3)让学生逐一读出编写的句子,并将其翻译成汉语。
(4)让学生找出表格中哪些动作是延续性的、哪些是瞬间性的。
【学生活动】完成学习任务单中的课堂学习任务四。
【教师活动】
(1)引导学生明确4b的活动要求,然后让学生独立完成4b的任务。
(2)请一名学生朗读补全的短文,全班一起核对答案。
(3)要求学生两人一组,用“What was the writer ding when/while ”句式根据短文进行口语问答。例如:
What was the writer ding while his brther was listening t the radi?
What was the writer ding when the radi news talked abut a car accident near their hme?
(4)请几组学生在课堂上展示对话。
【学生活动】完成学习任务单中的课堂学习任务五。
【教师活动】
(1)将学生分成几个小组,让学生在组内进行调查并做好记录。
(2)让学生模仿4c给出的示范对话,利用调查结果进行对话练习。
(3)教师在黑板上画出表格,分别问几个学生“What were yu ding at 9:00 ”,将学生回答的核心动词原形填在表格里。
(4)利用表格信息提问其他学生“What was ... ding at 9:00 a.m.? What were yu ding while he ”
