What abut the leaves?叶子的作用呢?这是 What abut 引的省略句。英语中“What abut ”是一句常用的客套话，它后面可接名词、代词或动词-ing 形式。它的功能可不少呢。
1.询问情况或打听消息。当对方谈的事情不明确,需要询问清楚时,也可用这一句型：e.g.—I'd like a cup f tea. What abut yu? —I want t talk t yu. What abut?
