Because Jimmy was brn n the Mn, he has never seen a real dg. He has been getting alng well with Rbutt, and thus has develped an affectin fr him. They think Rbutt is just a machine.
Q2: 2) If yu were Jimmy, which ne wuld yu chse, Rbutt r a real dg?

1. The uter side f the crater slped suthward and the Earth, which was lw in the suthern sky, was nearly full, s that the entire crater-slpe was brightly lit.
Paraphrase: The entire crater-slpe faced suth and was brightly lit by the sun’s reflectin n the Earth, which was just abve the hrizn t the suth.
The uter side f the crater slped suthward,第二个并列句的主干是 the Earth was nearly full。
She leaned frward and kissed him n the cheek.
He didn’t pass the exam , which disappinted me.
I tk n ntice f him, s that he flew int a rage.
He practices speaking English every day, s that his spken English is fluent.
辨析: s that 后面也可接目的状语从句,此时 s that 后面的从句多有 can / culd / may 等词, 意为 “目的是”。例如:The ld man takes mre exercise s that he can live lnger.
2. The slpe was a gentle ne and even the weight f the spacesuit culdn’t keep Jimmy frm racing up it in a flating hp that made the gravity seem nnexistent.
Paraphrase: Jimmy was able t bund easily up the gentle slpe, hardly nticing the weight f his spacesuit because f the Mn’s lw gravity.
We have t take measures t keep this kind f thing frm happening again.
例如:These wrries kept her frm sleeping prperly.
2) flat v.
A plastic bag was flating in the water.
He crssed the hall with a hp, skip and a jump.
3. Jimmy culdn’t g wrng while Rbutt was arund, tripping him when he was t near a rck, r jumping n him t shw hw much he lved him, r circling arund and squeaking lw and scared when Jimmy hid behind a rck, when all the time Rbutt knew well enugh where he was.
Paraphrase: Jimmy was always safe while Rbutt was with him. Rbutt wuld knck him ut f truble when he was t near a rck, jump n him t shw hw much he lved him, r g rund in circles making nises as if he was scared when Jimmy hid behind a rck. Rbutt always knew very well where Jimmy was.
1) 此句中的 tripping … a rck, jumping … lved him, circling arund and squeaking … where he was 为四个并列的 ding 结构,在句子中作 was arund 的伴随状语。
2) 此句中的 trip 意为 t make smene fall by putting yur ft in frnt f them when they are mving “把(某人)绊倒”
He didn’t ntice me and stretched ut his ft suddenly, almst tripping me.
4. Jimmy held ut his arms and Rbutt was in them in ne bund.
Paraphrase: When Jimmy pened his arms, Rbutt jumped int them at nce.
1) “hld ut”
She held ut her hand t him.
2) bund 是一个多义词,在本句中用作名词,意为 a lng r high jump made with a lt f energy “跳跃”。
Yu’ve dne s much wrk ─ yu’re bund t pass the exam.
