But they did nt mentin the jbs being created in alternatives, such as labur-intensive wrk, which prvides wrk fr the rural pr. But sme gvernments are standing firm, and the meeting has witnessed individual natins declaring mre thrugh actin against single-use plastic bags.
The UN’s spkesman Sam Barratt tld BBC News, “Of curse we wuld have liked t have gne further, but this meetings made real prgress. There’s nw a sense f urgency and energy behind the issue that we haven’t quite seen befre. What is bvius, thugh, is that the UN can’t slve this prblem n its wn. The pressures f “time and” destinatin are further blcks t awareness. I encuntered many hikers wh were headed fr a distant campgrund with just enugh time t get there befre dark. It seldm ccurred t them t wander a bit r t take a mment t see what’s arund them. I asked them what they’d seen. “Oh, a few birds, they said. They seemed bent n their destinatins.”
