    Charles Richard Drew’s great inventin directly cntributed t saving thusands f lives during Wrld War Ⅱ, and cntinues t cntribute t the life-saving wrk f the entire wrld f medicine later.
    Brn in 1904, Drew was the eldest f five children. He was intelligent and shwed a talent fr studies and sprts frm a yung age. In 1922, his athletic ability earned him an athletic schlarship t attend Amherst Cllege in Massachusetts. Drew graduated frm Amherst Cllege in 1926.     When he began his dctral studies at Clumbia University, with a physician named Jhn Scudder, Drew cntinued his research in the field f bld transfusin.     Drew’s breakthrughs in bld preservatin were timely, as the Wrld War II was raging in Eurpe at the time. Under Drew’s directin, his team has develped new ways t extract, preserve and transprt plasma (血浆) n a large scale.
